Hi there PMC community Im here to ask for some help in the first steps in learning how to skin a texture pack. Ive been skinning player characters for quite some time and i want to really challenge myself but i have no clue in where to even start with this process and there's so many great artist on here. So if anyone could point me in the right direction or give some advice that would be awesome!

Im generally wanting to go for a simple 1.7 pack nothing modded.

SO please give me some feedback/ advice if you have any thanks ^.^

Well, I don't know much about the new updates, but I think they've changed the process a lot.
Let's see...
1) Download 7-Zip or WinRar
2) Go to Start and type %appdata%
3) Go into bin in the folder that comes up.
4) Right-click the file called "minecraft" and open it with 7-Zip (or WinRar).
5) Take out a few files, including:
pack.png
pack.txt
particles.png
achievement/
armor/
art/
environment/
font/
gui/
item/
misc/
mob/
terrain/
title/bg

There should also be a file called "blocks" or something of the like. That's the main one. Since 1.5, it was changed to a folder full of seperate images. Before that, it was one big image called terrain.png
6) Edit them with a program such as GIMP or Paint.NET
7) Put everything in a folder.
8) Right-click the folder, and under one of the headings, there should be an option saying "Compressed (ZIP)" or something like that.
9) Put the non-zipped file within the zipped one in your texture pack folder, and there it is!
10) You can also put it on PMC or another website. Use the ZIP file for that.

And that's it!
All this new 1.5 stuff...
