The same way that you'd use any other image as your profile picture. What made you think there was something special you had to do?

i tried that with numerous gifs, it wont work

Just find a gif, save it by right clicking with your mouse and clicking "Save picture as", then upload it to Planet Minecraft then if it doesn't work its probally not the right size. The pictures have to be small. This also works for any other kind of image you want to use for your profile picture.
