New uses for copper? what are your thoughts?
I always thought that copper had a lot of potential, and not in the regular way people say, like new redstone macines or whatever.
I think that copper could simply replace iron or gold in existing crafting recipies, for example:
Copper could be used instead of gold in powered rails, as the rarity of gold just makes rails as a whole a hassle, so it would have the added benefit of making rails easier.
It never made sense to me that the Light weighted pressure plate is made of gold, and the heavy made of iron, when Iron is lighter than gold, so if the light weighted pressure plate were made of copper instead of gold, it would make more sense.
Hoppers are way to expensive, they are super useful sure, but I think that maybe not replacing, but at least incorporating copper into the recipe could be nice, as well as using a barrel instead of a chest in that recipe.
Copper could also be used in pistons, just cause.

I think it's really nice to make a statue?
Because metal looks great for statue (in my opinion
And the "changing color" is really cool, too

I think it would be nice if chainmail armor was replaced with copper armor that could be crafted. Also, copper tools, which would have more durability than stone ones, but less than iron ones, would still be a controversial but interesting idea. Another interesting idea would be with an extremely simple semblance of energy in minecraft, which cannot be obtained from nothing and would serve for automation: for example, to power lamps that would accelerate the growth of plants and other mechanisms that could be added in the Economic Update, but not I think Mojang will go into non-redstone based gear. By the way, can I create a similar datapack?
go ahead
I believe this is in some mod, a type of furnace made with copper that smelts stuff like sand faster. This would be useful for large builds where you are using a lot of blocks that need to be made with smelting and would make sense because the blast furnace and smoker already exist.
I guess you could argue that this takes away from the purpose of a normal furnace beyond the early game, and that is definitely a valid argument. This is just a thought

mmm, I think that the existing furnaces work.
Honestly, this is a really good use of copper.
Copper Axolotls if ur allergic to cats.
Neat
I agree with skip the tutorial on this one copper armor so when it turns blue it looks like diamond
When would you use that, Iron is better and just as easy to get, So you can't really fit it into the material progression system without completely overhauling it
Copper Cats!
I'm allergic, sorry.

I've always liked the idea of making copper into its own electronics system entirely, powered by cogs and the souls of the damned :D
I'm not sure about the separate system, cogs have been thought of and rejected by Mojang in the past, and Redstone is complicated enough, but i do like the souls of the damned idea
well rejected ideas have been added before, so I don't see why it can't happen a second time
but for my souls of the damned idea to work, it needs to be cogs
now that I'm thinking about it... I should make this a mod shouldn't I?
would that be cool?

Go ahead, but there are already souls of the damned in minecraft, so you don't actually need cogs for that.
But I need cogs for the souls of the damned
We already have lanterns and torches and screaming blocks and wavey ear boys and horrifying mosters that climb out of the ground, cogs will add one too many.

I think there should be a copper wire, much like redstone wire, that could go straight up/down. It would have the following benefits:
- Easier vertical wires
- A way to separate adjacent wires (redstone wires don't connect with copper ones)
- Redstone wiring that's only one block thick and doesn't need support
- A use for copper
Meh, I always felt like that would be a little, not fitting with minecraft? idk, I never thought that should be added, but idk.
since copper is so much more common than stuff like gold maybe it'd be better to just make new variations of some of the items you mentioned
it'd be nice for builders since you'd gain access to new colors as well as make it easier to balance out the cost and benefits

Well, when it comes to powered rails, I think that having both is overkill. The gold rails just makes an already increasingly obsolete system, the minecarts, even less appealing, so copper would make them easier and better.
Also many of the others are simply there for the cost benefit, so having multiple methods seems weird.

Powered Rails and pistons might be a little too cheap for powered rails maybe because of the sheer amount of copper is obtainable even early game. It means less on the powered rails but the pistons using 1 copper might be a little cheap for a piston. maybe the piston recipe could be altered or something idk. Light Pressure plate and the hopper idea are cool tho I would really like a change for those.
The gold in powered rails is such a pain that i never feel it's worth it for anything bigger than a sorting system, for all that, you get only 6 powered rails. Idk, it was an idea for more uses.
I'd say 3 at the bottom. which is what i did when I made my pack with these, I also made compasses be made of copper and activator rails, idk, these i wasn't as sure about, so I didn't add them here
True and I think I only obtain my gold via bastion raiding/piglin trading/mindlessly strip mining so I have way too much of it so maybe copper might be equal to the original.
