During the day, on peaceful, I was attacked by a wolf even though I was exploring and hadn't hit anything since I'd been mining.
But this wolf had a different skin from any others I'd seen; it had pinkish eyes and pink patches on its body.
Considering that I've just downloaded the new update for trapdoors etc., is it possible that there's a new type of rare hostile mob?

After reading the comments, I think the wolf could've gone hostile as the result of a bug or glitch or something...
I didn't know before that a wolve's eyes went pink/red when they became hostile. How would I? Those guys are way too cute to hit.

Sounds like you got a texture pack or something that doesn't support mad wolves?

It could be the hostile wolf skin for the texture pack you have... I have seen the mobs folder for 1.6 and there is nothing in there for a special wolf skin....

Neutral wolves, when attacked, will have red eyes and regular fur with default texture pack, they wouldn't have ping blotches (unless there have been special ones that I've never seen).
But to run into a wolf in the wild with pink blotches and already attacking you... very veird indeed!
