When did you start playing minecraft?favorite
I started playing minecraft when i was just 11 years old (I'm 20 now). It feels great to witness how far minecraft has come through the years of playing. How about you?

About 2012 or 2013 I am not sure, but for long enough lol.
In 2018 When I was 6
Does that mean you're 8?
The demo just got released and I thought "Wow, this is cool" and here I am.
e e e e e e e e e my e e my way
I honestly don't know exactly when I started playing Minecraft. However, I do remember buying it when it first blew up on YouTube, so I assume that it was in its Alpha stages.
I knew of the game since I was 5... and played it A LOT at my friends house but my dad thought the game was stupid and wouldn't buy it for me :( I finally got it after EIGHT years... I'm 13 now. Yeah, have I been binge-playing?? Yes.
I think the first time I played Minecraft was back in 1.7.10 days or 1.8
I started maybe on Xbox bedrock edition maybe 5 years ago then quit maybe 1 year later I started again maybe this year but now I just make texture packs, mods and skins on pc java edition.
A little over a year ago....
10 years ago is when i started
I first started playing in 2013
well i got the demo first, which was in it's alpha state, i could tell it was in it's alpha state cause there was no sprinting, and the grass was very green. and i kept building cave houses cause i sucked at building and kept getting scared when it became night cause the mobs were op back then and then the next day i got the full game. so technically i started minecraft in alpha. and then i got addicted when i got the full game cause i stopped playing the other games i had on my intel integrated computer. and then took like 3 or 4 breaks for a while, and got back into the game on a brand new computer.
Yooooo, wait, same hat. I also started playing when I was 11 and am 20 now!
I was so excited when I first started playing that when I closed my eyes I would see minecraft behind my eyelids :P lmao

Cool!
I remember feeling quite dizzy on my first days of playing until i got used to it

Then I got Xbox 360 in 2016 (yes I still had a 360 then)
But I do remember my first “build” this was on PE and it was just whatever was in the hot bar went on the screen. It’s hard to explain but in short it was a massive thing of stone, and wood.
It’s hard to say because I was very young
Around 2014ish
i was like 7 years old when i started
26th of December 2013, so roughly seven years ago since I started placing voxels in a children's game for hours a day. I first got introduced to it by discovering it on youtube, it was a youtuber by the name of Blitzwinger to be exact.
The first time I played was at a friends house in 2011 on the xbox 360. I played at another friends house on the ps4 in 2013 and I got Pocket Edition in 2014. I got java in 2018 and bedrock this year.
i was actually a beta tester for minecraft, so basically in november of 2009
I started in early 2016, but I watched MC vids on youtube since 2014.
Seems like this poor guy started his journeyy just now:

Wow. Awesome work! What animator did you use? I'm learning blender right now. Good luck on your journey man
i've been using blender since 2018 so i'm good at it
That's awesome! Animations are absolutely fascinating
I started playing in 2011.
I played in 1017 then quit for 3 years. Then I started playing even more in July of 2020 on a computer.
I'm a little late to this but I joined around 2013 on the Xbox 360.
2015 is when I first got a java account, I'm pretty sure I played PE around 2013-2014 or maybe lower or higher idk
i think i started in like 2013 or 2014
if we're talking Java Edition I started Christmas day of 2015. If we're talking in general I've played Minecraft since in 2011 on pocket edition.
good it been 9 year when i play it to this day
i starrted like.... 5 or 4 years ago, i'm not so sure
No like in mabey 2013-2015
LONG before i could even count!
I think my first version was 1.6.4, so I started in 2013?
A YouTuber I don't follow anymore introduced me to it, and it was a lot of fun. So here I am. :D

Hello! I made this thread a while ago but I´ll give my answer anyway. I started playing in 2015
I think around 2016
It's really difficult to say when I got into Minecraft, I looked up and found my receipt for Thu, Jan. 16 2014 @ 6:30pm lol but I know I played before then and I know I bought the game before then. I started playing somewhere around 1.5 maybe, It could have been 1.4. My guess is somewhere around there so perhaps that's a later receipt as I also bought copies of the game for my friends.
I had a friend introduce me to it and I got hooked. I first played the alpha version on my phone (Because the cell phone game came wayyy later), it was kinda bad at the time but it was enough to get me to play for hours upon hours. I so wish I could have moved my world over to the main game.
Eventually I wanted to move to the Desktop and abandoned the crummy cell phone version (which btw has gotten much better over the years), I first started with the classic website thing and then moved to the full game. I think I did a trial I don't recall but I know I played the game for a while before buying it.
I played the heck out of the desktop version and it wasn't long before I got deep into the server stuff and it wasn't long before I started hosting private servers for my friends and we'd stay up all night just us girls lol, I really miss those days. We still get together sometimes though. Eventually I got more friends and got a ton of my friends into minecraft. I still have some worlds backed up on my computer that was their very first world, I even still have some of my very first worlds backed up lol. One time I hosted a private server that had over 30 worlds in it which was a collection of all of my friends early worlds including mine.
It wasn't long before I joined my very first ever server which was ShadowRaze, I played ShadowRaze a ton, actually ShadowRaze was the only public server I ever played on to this day. Around the time when Bukkit got DMCA'd is also when I fell off Minecraft, I got really bored with it but kept it installed.
A few weeks ago Youtube somehow read my mind that it's been long enough lol so it began reccomending me Minecraft videos even though I stopped playing for many years. Eventually this prompted me to make my very first public minecraft server a few days ago where I don't have to play, just maintain, but I can enjoy seeing what others create. It really reminds me of when I played way back in 1.4 or 1.5 or whenever it was. Maybe I'll start playing Minecraft again as a player, maybe not.
I remember the big horse update everyone was thrilled about, I remember Mojang working with the Bukkit team to create a client and server-side modding API they talked about for a year or so that never happened, I remember them getting bought by Microsoft and I remember after the horse update it seemed it kept getting huge sets of new blocks which were amazing. I remember when Spectator mode was new, glitchy, and a big talking point and they kept trying to work out the bugs. I remember so many wonderful plugins that aren't around anymore but that were so good like a world generator that could generate a cave world with towns and everything or an endless city generator (That got a brief reboot before it ended again), all sorts of client mods that don't exist anymore like robots which LUA programming language. The move to a new launcher that supported multiple versions. Lots of great stuff.
I really feel the API that never happened is what ended so many of these plugins both server and client side. Everyone at the time was eagerly waiting for it, they were hanging on but it never happened and eventually many gave up hope and just dropped off. Minecraft has come a long ways, I'm really proud I've been with it for so long (even if I joined in later than others to the fandom). It's great to see it so active still!

You get an emerald for that effort. Thank you for sharing your story
wow i'm not reading all of that!
I always appreciate people going out of their way to let me know I probably wasted my time writing something simply because it was over the size of a twitter post which is the maximum apparent words a human can take in at once.
Around September 13, 2014.
~2012
I bought the java edition at the end of September 2010, alpha version V.1.1.2_01 after a friend showed it to me.
I believe it was around 2010. One of my exes told me about the game when it was still so new it had that browser demo (which maybe still exists, I haven't checked). I tried it and found it cute but didn't buy the game. Later I met the woman who would become my wife and her fiancee at the time bought me a copy of the game so we could play together, and I've been enjoying the game ever since. :)
