Open the windows in the bottom of the search bar type "CMD" and type in the command prompt and type "ipconfig" and look for IP4V.............And thats your IP
so people can join

100% recommend renting. I use gizmoservers.com and they are amazing. They respond to any problems I have within an hour. I'm no advertising for them and I'm not staff. I just rent, and they are great.

norton is not on, router is netcomm, and justcallme, i have tryed that, that is basically what every single tutorial says, dosnt work, unless u can think of a tutorial thath as somthing every other one dosnt, dont bother posting simple portforwarding

JustCallMe, the second u said, port forward, it stops there, i cant port forward, no matter what it says the port i tryed to forward is still closed

ok heres ur problem all u have to do is port forward with ur server open and dont changed server.properties. then to get on ur server tyoe localhost. And to find out what other people type goto whatsmyip.org

Use simple portfoward it works

Or go to command prompt

Type ip comfiest
Find default gateway
Type up into browser
Login into browser
U see portfoward thing or go to firewall then open ports.
If it says computer ip find ipv4 then put ther

If days starting port ending use :25565 for all of them

zaphod, i folowed your tutorial exsactly, and all i get from the bat file is

im having the same problem only no one can join on my server except me : connection timed out cannot connect.. thats the error my friends are getting and i know i port forwarded corretly cause i did all the steps from ZaphodX's guide that was linked :L

Disable the firewall and SPI.

Ok tell me what happens with disabling norton if just by itself not workin also disable windows firewall I have had to do this before so people can join the server.

Problem is Probably NORTON they block traffic so no hacking occurs. You dont need to know much about anything about computers. The Tech people at my school are stupid and dont know anything. I ran server from school they couldnt block me. Well not everyone knows computers. Dont be harrasing him for something that doesnt work..

Norton could be blockin it try to disable norton totally. Get microsoft security essentials for free. Norton likes to block traffic like that.

if there is more than 1 computer on the router that may be whats stopping you from portforwarding

You all someone can access your comp through port :8080 it is open by default so either way you are still can be hacked.

Ik this don't help it shows people any one can be hacked..

just try using local host if it doesnt work use hamachi because its easier and less risk since with hamachi you dont actuarly use your own ip

Use Hamachi use the un-managed version.
Read a guide fully.

As Zaphod said, you are doing something wrong. As for Hamachi, I have no idea what you did, i've installed it multiple times on different machines and never had an issue.

I've already told you exactly how to fix your problem.

i dont want to buy i a server, i was told that makign a server would be free, why buy somthing i can get for free, and renting for $20 usd a month? you sound like a bot, allso i can get 2 months worth of runescape membership for that, if it was $20 "australia" thats even more then a server for a month

I would just recommend renting a server. It is almost always ready as soon as you order it!

If your sister is on the same network you don't even need to portforward, she should be able to connect just fine.

i did download hamachi, and its crap, didnt work, it just says its full, and their are no names in it besides myself, my sister cant join because its allready full apparantly, it keeps on prompting my to but the full version so more peopel can join

If it's just for you and your sister, you don't even need to port forward. Download hamachi https://secure.logmein.com/products/ham ... nload.aspx
create a network, then download onto other pc and join. Then just give your sister your ip and play. Simple as that.

i am not going to tell anyone my IP or any way onto my server besides my sister, its only for me and her to play

and thats annoying if i have done somthign wrong, because i followed everything all these tutorials said, if they left out stuff, then its not me doing stuff wrong its them

Listen, don't host a server from a pc. It's just a bad idea for pretty obvious reasons.
1. Your PC is in danger.
2. You will need to keep your PC on 24/7 to have a decent server online (damages your PC)

There are many more, just take my advise and don't do it. You can buy a server for about $1 a slot if you look around the net a little bit.
