Introduction: Making minecraft servers are probably one of the hardest things you will come across while playing the game. Being a server OWNER makes soo much fun! Fill out this form if your unsure on a part of how you make it!

Router Type: *Mandatory unless its finished, or hamachi* ( Ex: Netgear, Belkin, etc )

How in the name of Abraham Lincoln do you add mods (I know not all mods support servers, tyvm) to a Bukkit server?

You have to make the server Bukkit in the first place.

Bukkit and vanilla are two seperate servers. Vanilla is not modded, and bukkit can allow you to install plugins. Rephrase please?

How do you install bukkit I've google'd it and when I do what it say it gives me a "Chunks not found" even thought their all in the folders please help

1. Make a new folder for your bukkit server. Preferably on the desktop.
2. Go to http://www.bukkit.org and download craftbukkit. Preferably 1.4, in that bukkit server folder, and rename it "craftbukkit" without quotes.
3. Go to the bukkit forum page on how to make a server, then copy that Xms 1024 thingy, and then click start, TYPE NOTEPAD THEN HIT ENTER! Then paste the

Xms-1024 thing in there.
4. File - Save As - Run.bat ( Save in server folder )
5. Start run.bat for the first time. It will take from 30 seconds to 5 minutes to load everything.
6. Go into the server properties file, change the world name to whatever you want it to be, put your ip where it says server-ip. You can also change the message that players get on the server screen before they join, the max players, and much more, but I would only change the ip before playing with anything else.
7. I'd run it, to see if you port forwarded right. If you didn't then a screen saying , "fAiled to bind to port," will come up. If that is what comes up , then search "How to port forward /router name/" without quotes or dashes.
8. If it works, stop the server, and add plugins one by one. After each one, reload server to make sure it still works. Also, make sure the plugins you have are compatible with the other plugins that you have.
Any other questions or errors? Lemme know, cause there are some errors the can happen. I know how to fix them, so e sure to get back to this thread, and let me know!

uh I´m trying to install forge (and after that some mods) on a vainilla server. Its not the first time I do a server, but I´ve never installed forge on one so I followed some tutorials. Installed forge in the server.jar (didnt delete META-INF) and it didn´t appear to work. So now I have no clue! please help me!^-^

It will not work on vanilla. Forge works only on Bukkit I think. If you don't know how to install bukkit servers, I can explain how

Forge WORKS on vainilla (I checked that before downloading), and I don´t want a bukkit server, mainly because i had one and can always update it if i want and because the mods i want are not for bukkit/ported... and of course, the bukkit server don´t have the file "minecraft_server.jar" where you´re supposed to install forge (!) so no, forge is definitely NOT for bukkit (or at least, not in the tutorials i´ve seen/read). I can imagine that you dont know the answer to my problem then, but thanks

The jar file from Bukkit is an altered version of the vanila server. Also check you have the correct version(s)

as I alrady said, i´m not using bukkit, at least until they port the mods I want to use. And of course i´m using latest forge version (6.idk.what.else) if I wasn´t client wouldn´t work (and it does!!). So im really clueless about the forge problem

I am not sure if I am able to make perms for tekkit, as I never did. Unless they use regular bukkit plugins, and you have the plugin groupmanager installed, then yes, I can. If that is the case, send me the ip! :3 IGN: Matthew_Cohen
