I hope to update this post weekly with a few new facts/random knowledge!

1. Playdough was originally created to help remove wallpaper.

2. Dragonflies catch their prey with a 97% success rate.

3. Kleenex were originally created to be filters for gas masks in World War I.

Here’s last week’s:

Toxic foods to dogs:
-Chocolate (most people know this one)
-Grapes (this means raisins are toxic as well)
-Onions, leeks, chives and Garlic
-Coffee/caffeine
-Macadamia Nuts
-Avocados
-Alcohol (this should be obvious)
-Raw yeast dough (just like with humans)
-Xylitol (a common sweetener in sugar-free things like gum, candy, toothpaste, etc. This one is very serious)

Obviously, take your dog to the vet as soon as possible if you think they ingested any of these. (Most of the time they can handle very small amounts of these things, but don’t hesitate if something seems wrong.)

I volunteered a a vet clinic for a while before I moved and I cannot tell you how many dogs and cats came in after eating harmful things.
There were two cases in particular that really got to me. They were both very similar: the first one was where a young man and his friends were kinda drunk and decided to give his dog a bunch of beer. They thought that it’d be funny. I turned into a life-or-death situation.
The other case was pretty much the same, except those people gave the poor dog marajuana. They also thought that it was funny to see their dog stumble around, disoriented and confused.
Both dogs ended up being ok, and the vet that I worked for was an awesome guy, he was really nice but could be really serious when he needed to be. He gave these people quite the lecture, which they definitely deserved.-

Anyways, I hope that you learned something from this!
