    Current Details

    Server edition: Java, but Bedrock-compatible
    Server version: 1.21.10
Server type and software: Semi-vanilla survival (Plugins don't take away the vanilla essence), Paper software

Primary philosophy: The server is run with the philosophy that nothing can be gained not originally from the world as naturally generated. This means no free items given by staff in Creative (Creative in itself isn't allowed but for specific purposes; Spectator is usually used for surveying player activity and to avoid damage in Survival when performing staff duties that require Creative-like abilities), no use of /give to hand out items, no summoning entities, setting blocks, using /kill or /damage, no /data, etc. If you see a staff member violating this philosophy, don't take it to them, take it immediately and directly to me as the owner (Lego_Master_A and Lego_Master_A in-game), and I'll handle it. Just make sure not to participate in the violation, meaning don't accept free items from them (if you happen to pick it up, immediately drop it, or if they did /give then just drop it from your inventory; if picking it up gave you advancements or recipes, let me know and I'll review it and take the unearned advancements and recipes away); they will be dealt with harshly (not in an abuse way, just severe punishment, likely banning from being staff, if not from the server entirely). You also have a responsibility in keeping this as a player, so don't request anything for free, and take it back if you do happen to make such a request.

That requires software to translate IPs to UUIDs and if the goal is to determine which devices (and thus IPs to identify them with) are allowed, it's kinda redundant since we already let them in to process the IP...

Why don’t you use UUIDs instead of IPs

Incredible news (which is why I'm pinging everyone)! I just realized I made an error in judgement (and no, that's not the news XD), and I actually don't need this firewall rule like I kept on bugging y'all about. Well, technically I need one in order to let connections through, but I mean one that restricts what IPs are allowed to pass through, which I was going to use as an IP whitelist. But I noticed that if I had that and somehow made it work, wouldn't that go against my intention to have this server public and not like an exclusive club? And if I had this whitelist, that'd mean that nobody could join without first going through a test or something and thus make it no longer non-exclusive and my advertisement that anyone is welcome to join is kinda a half-lie (it's not a lie because anyone is welcome, but it's not a full truth because not everyone is mmediately "welcome" to join, because they need to go through a process first which can make it seem a bit not so welcome...ig :/).

So in a nutshell, I take back what I was saying about needing a firewall rule for the security and safety of my network. If having a server poses a possible dangerous security risk like hackers and malicious entities and malware and stuff, should I even have one at all? So no, no such security measure is needed. Not unless I suddenly get a malicious security threat or hacking attempt or something, which I don't see likely, or at least successful as I have other security measures in place already (not-lateral device traversing, DMZ with the server the sole thing in it, and a second router as a nested router acting as a wall of trees blocking sight and sound to create privacy, etc. etc.). Okay maybe not so much a nutshell but still.

      Okay second try... *inhales*

IN A NUTSHELL I DON'T NEED *pant* THE FIRE- *pant* WALL... RULE... *pant* *wHeEZe* ...THERE! *faints*

This is the same as the announcement I sent in the discord, but it was really good so I put it the same here.

Sorry to worry y'all about the whole IP sharing nonsense. I hope it didn't make you think any less of me or the server. :(

I hope someone builds something cool soon and makes a project content associated with the server. To do that, just go to the server page (link is above) and there will be a button under vote for server saying submit server project. Then just make content like normal but it'll be linked to the server. PLEASE do this instead of just making content because you can't make it linked to the server after being made, and I want to see things built in the server. :)

      Some ideas:
      - a store
      - building/construction service
      - bank
      - rollercoaster (SICK, TOTALLY DO THIS; i wanna see how big and crazy players can make it with just available resources, and totally be the first to ride it because i got priority as owner jk)
      - farm w/ barn and farmhouse and animals and stuff
      - Redstone contraption (e.g. redstone computer, but don't build something that causes excessive lag because my machine running the server is kinda old and only so fast; if you intentionally make it lag just to lag you'll be punished depending on the intensity of the lag, even up to banning if it causes a crash)
      - and anything you can think of (abiding by the rules ofc)

      Have fun! :D

To clarify, the server is up rn. I won't implement the security system with the firewall just yet, if at all. I'm still working it out.

Edit: It's been decided that I won't add one as it isn't needed afterall and actually isn't beneficial (kinda the opposite in fact). You're all good; no need to do anything with IPs anymore! :D

      man im so relieved

So, having the server down while i plan and implement a security system. I got strangely suspicious pings from some IP to the server which is harmless rn but the weird thing is that it was at a perfect interval of every 5 seconds. All the same IP but a different port about every 10 pings or so.

That's a good enough sign to me that it's time to secure the server. And that's why I'm saying this...

I've explained before that i would need to have a firewall rule to allow only registered IP addresses to connect, thus allowing the player from that address to join. If their IP is not listed, they cannot join. And if they are not willing to give me their IP so I can allow it through then they sadly cannot join.

This is the significant detail: Whether you give me your IP in order to join or I don't have the firewall so you can join regardless, I will still see your IP in the console the moment you join. So whether you tell me your IP or not I'll still have it! I should've said this to begin with. And if you're now concerned with joining at all because I'll see your IP please know that this is the case with all servers. Just the way it works. The server program needs to know where to send signals to (which would be your computer you're playing from) and where to receive signals from, as well as security things and such.

Therefore, if you send me your IP securely, preferably through a form since I'm the only one that can ever see your form response, it'll remain confidential and you'll be able to join while keeping my home network safe. I hope you want my home and family to be safe too...

If you have any questions just let me know (DM me, i won't get notified if you comment to this post unless you ping me). I truly care about the safety of both you and me/my family.

In the future I'll make a way for you to see what your IP is (referred to as a WAN IP) without having to figure it out. But for now you can go to https://www.whatismyipaddress.com/ and your WAN IP will be to the right of "IPv4:" which will be 4 numbers separated by periods (e.g. 127.0.0.1 which is localhost, aka the device you're using). When I get SSL for my server I'll have a page so you can just click a button and it'll display your IP to copy and whatnot, but rn i don't want to do that yet since it's not secure and encrypted.

      Thanks for understanding. :)

      -Lego
      Lego_Master_A2026-07-03 00:14:59
Yes but that doesn't give you your WAN IP. And not everyone knows how to use command prompt so it's not useful for the general public anyway. Glad you know your stuff though. ;)

Okay so, goodbye to Winters_Bane since through discord have declared that they hsve "grown out" of Minecraft (and therefore PMC) and so will no longer be in this server. It's disappointing and i tried my best to convince him not to quit Minecraft (i said MC isn't childish but he says it's something else) but to no avail. So to that end I'll be contacting him again to ask what he wants done with his ingame belongings (inventories, base(s), land claims, money, etc.) and once i get what his will for it all is I'll divide and transfer it all accordingly. It's sad i have to do this but he made a choice... :(

Okay so... I need to be honest with y'all. You know how i said before that I'd need to put up a firewall rule to protect my household network and I'd need the IP addresses of those who want to join so i can put it in the rule to allow them to connect? Well while that is true, AND that i am serious about my promise that i wouldn't do anything with your IP address when i receive it through the form other than to put it in the rule, I must admit that while i am well-versed in much of computing like programming and hardware (what's physically in a computer and how it all works), I'm relatively new to networking. I know some but I'm not as proficient in it as i am in the other aspects of technology.

But what I'm saying is that i am actually unsure if i truly need your IP addresses as if the firewall rule is the only way to effectively secure my network from hackers, DDOS, etc. So...

I have an idea. Now in addition to needing IP's for the firewall rule, and if everyone is okay with giving them, there's still the issue of dynamic IP addresses. This is where one network's IP may change at times depending or when the network is turned off (e.g. due to a storm) and it gets a new IP when it's back up. Now, my own server doesn't need to worry about that because i have a domain name so there's no need to give out the new IP if mine changes. But that's not the case for y'all. So rather, i have an idea I'm coming up with that'll make it both safer and feel safer to pass the IP address in order to join. Any updates i have on this idea and my development of it when i have the idea right I'll post here so be sure to stay updated, as this is important information for those who weren't comfortable sharing their IP's over the Internet.

Now i must say that it's actually a good and wise thing to be cautious to share your network's IP address, because it would actually be unwise to give it out to anyone, even though i hope people know they can trust me. :(

Okay, so to add to my statement about having to use a firewall rule to protect our network, therefore needing the IP addresses of the players who are joining, reference this: https://www.planetminecraft.com/servers/#:~:text=installing%20a%20firewall

I cannot say it any more times... It's necessary if I'm going to protect my home network. I can't have the server running without this protection because it'll open my network up to unwanted activity because i don't have that vital security layer. If y'all don't want to supply your IP addresses then I'm sorry but you cannot join. There is no other way. Any other is not secure enough, including the server whitelist (though this will still be used but not alone).

If i didn't have to request your IP addresses it wouldn't, trust me...

    Rules
Please read these rules and follow them while playing.

    1. No activities that involve or are related to demonic things (such as satanic things/satanism), sorcery, witchcraft, spiritualism (such as seances or haunting by ghosts), spells, divination (such as palm or tarot card reading), contacting or interacting with the dead (such as using a crystal ball or summoning the dead), astrology, worship of false gods/spirits, etc. This applies to written/verbal content such as messages in-game (chat, signs, etc.) and in the discord, as well as direct activities.
    2. No obscene or profane language, activities or creations, such as cursing ("f***", "sh**", "OMG"/"oh my G**", etc.), "uncalled for" builds (need I give examples?), profanity in motion/chat, etc.
2.1. No hateful, violent, or otherwise harsh language or behavior, such as verbally attacking or harassing other players, falsely calling out/accusing other players of doing something wrong, etc.
    3. Be kind to other players. Respect their property, privacy and decisions, as you value your own. Do to them as you would have done to you.
    4. Always respect those of authority*, whether they are in-game or not (say, just in discord). Do as they say. Don't mistreat them and give them proper respect.
    5. Respect other players’ land claims and possessions. Do not modify anything in their claim(s), which means: (a) do not add anything, such as putting items in containers or placing blocks (b) remove anything, such as taking items from containers, breaking blocks, or hurting/killing mobs (c) change anything, such as rotating item frames, changing repeater delays or comparator modes, flipping levers or pressing buttons, opening/closing doors/trapdoors/gates, or feeding animals/other mobs, or (d) trigger anything, such as holding an item that lures animals/other mobs away, pushing a minecart into a mob forcing it into the minecart, causing monsters to spawn that will attack mobs or players in the claim, or throwing an ender pearl that spawns an endermite. This also includes abiding by any instructions or rules they have set up for their claims/possessions, unless following them means going against the server rules. If a player does set up rules/instructions that in order to follow them you must violate the rules, don't follow them and immediately report it to a staff member*, and they'll handle it.
5.1. Do not take players’ violating actions into your own hands. There's management officials for a reason. If you witness someone violating a rule (including this one, but priority is the other rules), immediately notify a staff member and it will be taken care of. However, if you have been wronged, you are allowed to take actions that can hinder the offender from doing more harm against you. This also applies for when you see someone else being wronged, too.
    6. Respect and take care with naturally generated but not already discovered structures or land. Give others a chance and some time to see it and check it out before you do what you want with it. This only applies to building directly on/in it, destroying blocks from it, attacking/killing mobs, starting fires on, in or near it, placing lava/water, spawning/causing to spawn destructive mobs (i.e. creepers, blazes, withers, etc.), placing and igniting TNT, etc. The best way to go about it before you do these things is to announce that you found the discovery and where it is (or at least an estimate) so others know you found it, and if they respond with wanting to check it out, that's when you wait for them to check it out, then after they're done you can do what you want with it. This is also what is officially recognized by the server as how to treat discoveries while following the rules.

Also, use common sense when following these rules—don’t just follow them literally. If you have a question if something specific is against the rules or any other question, please do ask a staff member* or just me (Lego_Master_A).

If you’ve been banned, you may request to be pardoned if you are told you may, but don’t be careless: if you make such a request without actually having the intent to stop doing whatever it is that got you banned, you may be permanently banned without being allowed to request a pardon again if it is discovered that you don’t have that intention or you do do it again. You can appeal by submitting this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfcHXNF5v9e044XI6_W3vskR1Gy19DvRI4mmMpwMxaqKdm9Fw/viewform?usp=header

    How do I join?
You can join with the hostname on the server page (https://www.planetminecraft.com/server/lego-s-mc-server-6480101/).

However, please note that there originally was a whitelist set up where I needed the IP addresses of those who wished to join as they were required due to the nature of the whitelist, but since recently I disabled it until further notice so I no longer need them, but in the future I may replace the whitelist with a security system that would not require such sensitive information as an IP address (and for those who were worried about that, I made a promise that I wouldn't use your IP address for anything other than keeping track of player activity/data and registering it as an allowed IP in the whitelist so you may connect, and that I would not share it with anyone other than as legally required and those you allow; I have no reason to share your info as I alone handle anything relating to your data, but I am stating anyway for your comfort). So, keep in mind that you may be required to fill out a form (there was a form originally, which is still available, to give your username and IP address, the only necessary information) giving likely your username and some other kind of information required depending on the system I end up using. This will be required for anyone already a member of the server who was allowed in by filling out the original form or while no form was required, once the system is set up.

In short, be prepared to be required to fill out a form in the near future in order to continue playing if already a member, or if you want to become a member if not. If already a member, you will be temporarily banned—not as punishment, just to keep with the system—until you fill out the form and it is reviewed and accepted.

Hope to see you in! :)

If available (they would be in-game or online/active in discord or PMC, but preferably when in-game), contact a staff member, priority to a moderator but an admin if a mod is not available, but if a staff member is not available or all are busy, contact me (Lego_Master_A in-game, Lego_Master_A on PMC, and lego_master_a in discord) and I'll do what I can. Also, if I am in-game, you can contact me with equal priority to a staff member, but priority is to staff if I'm not in-game, as the reason I employed them is to manage the server when I'm unavailable or too busy.

You can contact us for anything but priority is to violation of rules or conflict between players, so if two players are requesting help with one reporting someone breaking the rules and the other wanting to ask a question, the player reporting the violation of rules would be helped first, then the one with the question.
