You can only allocate ~1.5GB of RAM before Java will error itself. This is due to 32-bit systems' processing limitations.

For performance, RAM has really nothing to do with it, save for stability. What will improve your performance is getting a more capable graphics card.

Grab the .jar version of the new launcher here,
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Down ... ecraft.jar

Click on "edit profile" and tick "JVM arguments". You can then place your arguments there. I'd recommend only 256mb, as in
    -Xms256m -Xmx256m

Click on "Edit Profile" once it loaded, and tick "JVM Arguments". Remove what is already there, and replace it with these lines.
    -Xms256m -Xmx256m

You should be then able to run the game.

Superpooch22So MC 1.6 comes out July 1 and for the new update Mojang has a new Minecraft launcher. I tried to download the launcher for the pre-release and it wont work I'm not sure why. Please Help

What does "won't work" mean? That is a very general way of describing your problem.

    Does the launcher launch?
If so, does the game launch?
If not, then does the development log of the new launcher show anything?
If it does, then please attach it, else we really do not know what to make of your issue.

If you do not know anything about the internals of your computer, please provide your DxDiag log.

It's complaining that certain classes are missing.

    Please update Java.

Are you able to run this version of the launcher?

If not, can you try running the dev launchers? Which one can you run?
    Windows: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Down ... aftDev.exe
    Linux/Other: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Down ... aftDev.jar

Because it's a diagnostic tool, not the resolve, or the cause of the crash. The user is having issues with starting the game, with the error 'It could not find an accelerated OpenGL mode", which would mean the drivers installed (which can be viewed via the log), are having issues, or do not support OpenGL.

Of course you can go through the cracked launcher (shame on you), as it does not need authentication from the Mojang servers.

What is the error message in red when you try to login?
    "Login Failed", or
    "Cannot connect to Minecraft.net"

I think it'll be better if you've created your own thread on the issue.

In any case, provide your DxDiag log.

    # Problematic frame:

Xfire is causing your issue. Reinstall it.

Also noticing you're not using 64-bit Java but you are on a 64-bit capable machine. Grab Java 7 Update 25, 64-bit here. Select windows offline (64-bit)

You may have touchscreen mode enabled, disable that in options.

The issue here is because of anti aliasing settings. Please make sure your settings are as follows in the nVidia control panel.

Those are what Minecraft normally allocates.

    TheBrogen-snip-

To the OP, When the game runs out of memory, it usually means something is overloading it, and may be a corrupt chunk that is forcing you to render a lot more than it should.

But putting that aside, are you running on a 64-bit machine? If so, installing 64-bit Java would resolve the issue. A way to confirm this is through a DxDiag log, would be great if you could provide that. Lowering the allocation is also known to resolve the issue, believe it or not. There is a more or less functional guide here.

Runeryan456So i have a account that works on my main computer, but i have a new laptop now and everytime i try to log in it says can't connect to minecraft.net, even though everything is fine, HELP ME PLEASE

The "cannot connect to Minecraft.net" error can happen because:
    • An antivirus program or the firewall filtering the connection
    • Your Windows username has special characters in it, eg. (!)
    • Your hosts file has been tampered with
    • Java is defaulting to IPv6 instead of IPv4
    • There is an issue with your modem/router
    • System time is incorrect, or out of sync
    • Java's configuration files are out of date

The more prevalent root of the issue is of course the first one. Norton at times will block Minecraft. I would suggest disabling it temporarily, or even uninstalling it to see if the issue persists. Then we can rule out said possibility.

Unless of course, you do have exclamation marks or similar characters in your Windows username? The launcher will present itself with a black footer rather than the dirt background.

Mercer444Minecraft does not work on TOSHIBA computers.

This is very false information. Software is not limited to any manufacturer at all. They all probably have the same security software or even bloatware pre-installed that may be the cause of the issue.

MultiMC has more functionality, it is easier to use. You do not have to do anything outside of the launcher as well.

To the OP, first create a new instance,

Click on the "Add a new instance" button as demonstrated in the picture. It should bring a smaller window that looks like this:

After that just double click it and it should download MC for you for that version. For demonstration purposes we're gonna install Forge.

To install Forge on MultiMC is probably the simplest process of all, as opposed to being the most difficult when doing it manually. First, with MultiMC open, you right-click on your instance as shown below:

When you right-click, a context menu will appear, which you click "Edit Mods" in. Once you click it, you'll be given the interface that makes installation a breeze, shown below:

The mod installing window has several tabs for the different types of installation methods. For Forge, we want to install to the minecraft.jar, so select the respective "Minecraft.jar" tab. While viewing this tab, you'll be given an extra button labeled "MCForge" for "Minecraft Forge" (the full name of Forge).

MultiMC has a built-in script that fetches Forge for you, and better, it only lists Forge versions that are aimed at your Minecraft version you have set for that Instance.

Click on the "MCForge" button to get a list as shown below:

Once you choose your Forge version to install, hit the OK button.

There's not much reason to check to see if it installed correctly, as MultiMC doesn't often make errors in this. That's it, you're done. Close the edit mods window, and double-click your instance to open the login screen. Login, and Minecraft Forge should be installed for you.

Right so we have Forge installed, and to make sure, just login, and it will display on the bottom left corner. Great, now we're gonna install a mod. For demonstration purposes, we're gonna install Biblocraft.

As Biblocraft needs to go in the mods folder, click on the Mods Folder tab, then press Add, find the mod zip, select it and press okay. Something like this should show.

Close, and attempt to run the game, if there are no crashes, then the game will proceed to the Menu with your mod installed. It is just that simple! But of course remember to check where the mod is supposed to go in, either Minecraft.jar, coremods folder, or the mods folder. Read the instructions!

If your world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.

To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
