So I decided to start over from scratch again. For the second time I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows. This time every time I ran windows update, installed a program, installed drivers, or copied some files from my backups, I ran Minecraft to see if the problem would come back. Every time, the launcher loaded quickly like it's supposed to. I figured the problem was gone.

And then tonight, out of nowhere, the problem returned. It's taking like 5 to 7 minutes to load the launcher just like before. I'm about to start pulling out my hair.

ME1312what do you mean by sizable? do you have space left for MC to download? Was something you downloaded a virus? (assuming cause you said there were issues) How much ram you letting MC use? Any other suspicious applications/processes running alongside MC?

I don't see how a virus could be the culprit here, but I can confirm that none of the files in my downloads folder are infected. Yes, I have plenty of free space on my hard drive (500+ gigs free). No other suspicious processes are running that I can see. Minecraft is using whatever the default amount of RAM is.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

None of the files I had backed up were programs or user data. All that was saved from the previous installation was my sizeable Downloads folder and a ton of stuff that had been on my desktop. Nothing I backed up was anywhere near the appdata folder so I don't understand how my files could be interfering with Minecraft.exe.

    Also, May 34st?
