wyattbergeron1and also just because servers are down alot dosent mean theyre bad it just means either the idiot is hosting off his cpu, or the server has a lot of maintmance.

I completely disagree. Even if people really like a server that is down often, many tend to go off to other more reliable servers. In the time people aren't playing on the down server, they are playing on a different server getting more acquainted with that. Eventually they just stop trying to go to the frequently down server altogether. I have seen this many times, especially on Minecraft Classic. Reliability is key because people are fickle.

I agree with the OP on this one though. Servers can be very tough to run and quickly become complicated to run. People don't seem to realize how much work people put into good servers. I totally agree that some 10 year olds just think it would be fun to have a server but don't realize how much time and dedication it takes.

Something I think the OP failed to mention on this is the fact that the server owner can almost never participate in the fun of the server. Most of the time they are busy building, adjusting perms, adding plugins, and making various configurations. There isn't much time to actually relax and play on the server you are building from the ground up. Then if the owner does have time, they end up getting accused of cheating or hacking because they have all permissions. This is my personal struggle as a server owner. I typically want to play seriously on my server and dedicate real time to doing some good old fashioned SMP. But it is hard to find time between whiny guests and config problems (especially in the beginning).

Tl;dr Running a decent server is hard work, no time to enjoy it yourself.

Totally agree with this guy bloxParadise_:
I do not agree with this completely. I own a server and I use all the money for upgrading the server, buying plugins, paying for graphic designers, etc. I don't use any of the money for myself like other owners. It just depends who you donate to.

Minecraft servers can be expensive on some budgets. For instance, I need donations to keep my server up. I cannot afford to pay for the dedicated server myself and I need help with it. People that play on the server sometimes gladly donate if that means keeping the server up. I am ok with that only because I use the money directly for the server, I never use the money for personal gain. Please consider the implications of what you are saying before posting something quite irrational such as this post. I am guessing you just donated to a server and that particular server was bad and you ended up regretting it. Honestly, I dont like servers that make it so the donators get an extreme advantage over other players or servers that require donations for you to rank up. I can agree with you on that aspect because that is not fair to the other players. But not all donation systems are the same and not all servers are the same. I disagree with this post on many levels...

    ^This would be nice.

    Better Lighting:
I thought they could add more light fixtures, like have crafting recipes for torches that can put them in little light holders you can mount to walls, or maybe a candelabra or sorts. Also could make a mining hat or something to where when you are wearing it as a helmet it has the effect quoted above but without having to hold the item (similar to in Terraria). Flat lighting would also be nice, like a carpet that emits light, preferably vertical though (unlike carpet).

    Furniture:
More furniture! I want where you could place a couch seat and it would be one seat, if you place 2 next to each other it becomes a couch (similar to how chests combine) and the player should be able to sit in the chair like how they can lay in a bed. I think this idea would be kind of fun. Other types of furniture could be added as well, like tables and wooden chairs.

    More Dyeing:
I would love to be able to dye all armor instead of only leather. Also, I would love to be able to change the color of a bed by clicking on it with a dye in hand. If the couches thing would be implemented, I would want to be able to change the color of that in the same manner.

    More Paintings!
Something I have wanted for a very long time, since I first used all of the paintings. More paintings would be awesome, especially if there was some way of crafting/choosing which painting you want it to be (even if that change is permanent). Also, being able to upload your own images to paintings seen in-game would be amazing!

I could think of a bunch more stuff if I had more time, but for now I'll stick with this list.

I agree with some of the others in the sense that it is an awesome build, but the style is not very original. I have seen a lot of builders with this same architecture style and even detailing style. Don't get me wrong - your builds have a unique touch that makes them different (and again, excellent/awesome), but generally the style is pretty old. Love the design of the city: The narrow streets, clumped together buildings and even the store, give a very cool atmosphere and a good scale comparison. Awesome build!

I could maybe help you, but I will not fill out an application.
If you would like to see a spawn I have built, go to Rising Embers Gun Server (IP: mc.risingembers.com)
I can build well and in pretty much any theme and I run a server of my own. I wish only to help other people, as I love building and I am decent at it. I would be delighted to help you sometime, if you'd have me.
Msg me or find me on that server mentioned above.
Once I get the IP I can stop in and see the situation you are working with and what exactly you would want.

As an owner of multiple SMP and Classic servers in the past, I say the most important thing (not even in the app itself) is maturity. If you act mature on the server and are nice to new guests, the staff tend to like you. I always looked for the most mature people, especially on SMP servers because of the major potential for abuse. If you think you are mature then go ahead and apply. If you think the server staff/owner do not see you as a mature individual then it doesn't matter how awesome/mature/long/detailed your application is, it will just be denied.
That being said, I also agree with what Caux said. You should be able to deduce on your own whether you are well-liked and responsible enough to be staff on the server. If you think people like you, apply!
