I’ve never used one, but considering how they’re created, there are no real consequences for acting however you want to toward an AI. It’s designed to make you feel good, not to teach you anything useful about interaction.
There is among humanity a perennial plague of short-sightedness.
This has the effect of making a great portion of the populace the pawns of those who can manipulate their immediate circumstances to produce certain emotions.
This also has the effect of making that portion of the populace harder to warn.
Quick rant: I'm not too fond of HD texture packs. They advertise themselves as the coolest things ever when they take away the pixelated theme of Minecraft. It's difficult to find texture packs that don't do this as all the front pages are filled with resource packs that are all 32x or above.
I enjoy 16x, and sometimes 8x, texture packs. They try to take a twist on Minecraft's art style while also still giving that pixelated theme that I love about Minecraft. For this reason, one of the first ever mods I appreciated was the Minecraft Plastic Texture Pack, originating from Minecraft themselves in pre-Bedrock editions of Minecraft. Not many other packs capture its theme, but I've liked Plastick and Pixl 8x, paired with my favorite GUI pack, Unique Dark, and other cool packs like Bow and Arrow and Even Better Enchants.
My favorite resource pack, though, that I've discovered thus far would have to be BlockPixel. While it does make radical takes on the GUI, it keeps it gorgeous with decoration and effects. The textures also give a nice "alternative" art style to Minecraft, one that doesn't make it look any more low-poly while also not being any higher-resolution, preserving the blocky theme of Minecraft. It's gorgeous, clean, and overall adorable. I hope that Jakob.zero keeps this one maintained for the future and that he receives continuous support for it, even if I can't donate myself.
I love the blocky, pixelated theme of Minecraft and I'm not a fan of the higher-resolution textures that ruin it. I'm glad other people enjoy their quality and appearance, though, and especially appreciate their contributions to keeping resource pack catalogs diverse.
I doubt either Inland Revenue or the Infernal Revenue 'service' would be wiling to validate one's lived truth of identifying as a fully paid up ratepayer…
I feel like the gamejam idea is the sort of thing that would only start gaining traction once it actually gets started… I suppose I could make a sort of brainstorming forum for it...?
That’s what I was thinking; some elements (like story) would need to be in place before even starting on things like textures. I’m seeing a timeline something like this: 1. Brainstorming forum to establish the meta-direction, like theme, genre, etc. 2. Unranked blog jams to collect more specific story elements, possibly chunked into chapters 3. Assemble the information from 2 into a final script; maybe use a separate jam for this one 4. Associated content jams to implement the final script from setep 3 5. If multiple chapters, maybe glue this into a preview map and post it 6. Repeat per chapter, if applicable
I think you'd need some sort of overarching theme (and likely someone to bang gavel) or the result would be a missmash similar to the "everybody gets a plot now build something" maps
