That's very important.

Always make sure you provide links to previous work that you've done. Also, if possible, if you have some references (people that you've done work for in the past), have them provide a bit about what it was like having you do work for them.

As-per the rules (under "Acceptable Blogs"), you could probably create a blog post here on Planet Minecraft, and detailing the skins and how you made them.

Another thing you could do, is create a thread on the forums (probably under the "Skinning" category, like you did with this post), and dedicate it to the various different character skins you created.

Yes, there are lots of things available on the internet, but in my 9+ years of experience, I've learned a lot more from books than I have things on the internet.

Everybody is different, including in the way they learn best. I learn best by reading and doing, you, however, might not.

My advice, is that you pick up one of those "huge and confusing Java manuals", and get started reading it.

Not quite, bud. Minecraft is built using LWJGL and Java. Big difference.

Question: Why isn't there an option for Linux/Unix?

I like both of the options you provided, and Linux/Unix.

If I was forced to choose, however, I'd choose a Unix machine because I prefer Unix shells to DOS shells.

While it might be a bit more challenging, C++ is a very powerful language that can be used for countless different things.

Perhaps the following e-book will be of interest to you: C++ Succinctly.

One thing to always remember if you decide to work with C++:

free the malloc!

Just a tip, you might want to provide a bit of information about yourself and what you're willing to teach. Simply saying you've been "coding for 5 years" isn't enough.

Here are a few questions that people have asked me in the past when I've offered to teach them software and/or web development.

1). What languages are you familiar with?
2). Can you provide any links to projects that you've worked on in the past?
3). What are you willing to teach?

...and, because I'm curious to see what you've worked on before, would you please provide us with some links to a portfolio (or a GitHub profile, perhaps)?

2010 Dodge Charger SRT8 at ~112mph. And no, that wasn't on a track, so yes, we broke the law. Judas Priest starts playing in the background

I hope to ride (or drive rather, now that I have a license) in a Corvette C7; that'd be awesome!

Edit:
All these people listing all these cars they've ridden in, makes my car history seem pretty dull. Most of my vehicle history consists of trucks.

I haven't done anything on PMC, in, like, ~6 months, but this thread drew me back
