Try installing Java to a different directory and use that path.

You could also try Java 8.

Alright:
I'm assuming you're running Windows 7 or higher.

Open the explorer and right-click on "Computer" or "This PC".

Click on "Properties".

In the window that opens, click on "Advanced system settings" in the left navbar.

Click on "Environment Variables" in the window that opens.

Find "Path" in System Variables, add a semicolon and append the directory of your /bin Java folder.

I don't think your computer knows where your Java installation is. Go into your Environment Variables and set "PATH" to the /bin folder of wherever you installed Java.

I agree with the "weird apps" part although most gaming technologies are focusing on support for Windows 8.1. Windows 7 isn't going to cut it regardless of how good it is.
