I wouldn't start off with a 32GB server, they cost a lot of money and you most likely will not need the player count. Instead perhaps launch with a 4-8GB server and work on. If you buy a dedicated machine or a VPS with 4-8GB and you configure it correctly you can get up to 40 players pet GB, lag free. That would be 320 players on your 8GB server.

As for what sort of server you should make, I suggest you pick your favorite gamemode as it will be the one you enjoy working on the most and the one which motivates you to improve it, not the mention the one you will know the most about and have bigger chances of coming up with unique ideas to make it better.

I would highly discourage it as home hosting a public server can lead to multiple problems.

Firstly regarding costs, buying a suitable dedicated machine to run public servers will cost at least $1,000. And that is without taking into consideration the costs of powering this machine 24/7, and your ISP internet fees.

Secondly regarding more serious issues, running a server from home can lead to serve security issues as you can easily get attacked by DDOSers, which will take down the internet for your whole house. Your ISP (Internet service provider) most likely also does not regard game server hosting as normal use, and therefore you can end up with heavy fees for running such a server from your home, and even get your internet cut off. All in all, costing you more money, and resulting in server down time for your players. On top of this, you will be putting heavy strains on your power, which can also cause short circuits, resulting in server down time, and possibly damaging your actual machine. You also have to realize that your ISP will not provide fast enough internet for you to host a server, which will also result in a laggy server for your players.

So overall, home hosting a public server is not a good idea. You will not save any money and it can cause a lot of problems for both yourself and your house hold. Instead I suggest you look into renting a dedicated machine or multiple VPS from OVH. They offer very low prices for some great specs and if you have the technical knowledge to set them up right you can fit hundreds and thousands of players on their machines. Take a look at their ranges and see what best fits your budget and needs: http://www.ovh.co.uk/

Or if you are looking for a smaller server to start out with I would suggest going tiwh McProHosting: https://mcprohosting.com/

The Spigot build which you are using has a timer bug which stops it from working. upgrade to #1387 and restart your server. You should be fine after that.

The best thing you can do is research, look at other successful servers and compare your bundles and prices to theirs. It's the best way to work out how much people are willing to pay for certain rewards.

If you do not know what sort of server you want to create then I am guessing you are either creating this server for money or for the experience of running your own server. Either way, choose which ever gamemode you enjoy most, this will make the whole thing more fun for you and motivate you to make your server the best it can possibly be.

Change the default name of the world in your control panel and it will automatically change your server properties. You can delete the other worlds which were created automatically before.

A common issue for people when setting up kits in YAML is indexing. You need to make sure that the space to the left of each item is made up of spaces produced by the space bar, not by the tab button. Using tabs will break your server and make it unreadable. Try deleting all the gaps from the - of each item to the left of the page and then replacing them with spaces. Then reload.

Denizen is the best quest plugin out there. It is allows for a lot of customization, and is great to work with. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/denizen/

You can allocate per world permissions with most permission plugins. So for the worlds you do not wish your players to be able to use mob eggs, simply set up a world permission group and then paste this into that group. " - -essentials.build.place.383:*"

If I understand correctly you are wanting to home host on a bought machine rather than pay monthly as you are now for shared hosting? If this is what you are looking to do, then I would highly discourage it as home hosting a public server can lead to multiple problems.

Firstly regarding costs, buying a suitable dedicated machine to run 3 servers on will cost more than $750.

Hello Everyone,

It's great to see that so many of you are interested in working with us on the upcoming network however due to recent changes we are no longer looking for builders and instead would like a full time developer.

In result, I have updated my initial post and would appreciate it if you could all update your applications if you can. Thank you all for your time and goodluck to everyone.

    Regards,
    Spike

Looks great so far everyone, it seems that everyone has their own strengths so we will be building up a team of varying skill to hopefully make the best server we can. As for when you can expect to hear from us, me and my partner will be constantly looking over the applications and emailing your PMC account if we think you are skilled enough for the server. You will then be asked to enter a skype call with both me and my partner and we will ask you some more detailed questions. Nothing to worry about, just chill out and get to know us while we work out what role is best suited for your skills.
