A vote would simply not work because of the fact that it would become a popularity contest, not a picking of the best of the best members.
And as for the Moderator deal... We definitely need more Mods. Back in the day, we only had three or four mods, and the entire site was controlled, but it is different now. We need to step it up, make more mods, and take better care of the site.
