Just like everyone else said, way too fast. For content creators it's a big hazzle to update their stuff to new versions. Of course it depends the amount of change and all, but I for one have just started a couple of projects regarding modding, and thats for 1.9, now you're telling me 1.10 is out? When Forge is ready with a stable build for 1.10. who knows, maybe 1.11 will be arriving soon. Instead of smaller updates to keep the players occupied and try to satisfy them with new content frequently, they should focus on making big updates to the game, take suggestions from the community, prepare content creators for the new stuff by releasing some early builds and tell them what will change and what change that will make for their content. When you have a game like Minecraft, and open-source game, made for modders and resourcepack makers, you need to take them into consideration as well, as they are in fact, part of the game, they are also working on the same game as you, but in their own way.
So to round it up, Fewer updates, but maybe still update a lot on twitter and such, what will happen in the next update, what will change, what is planned and what do we have to adapt to as content creators.
