    a thought: try to avoid giving unsolicited advice on skins, regardless of how skilled/popular/High Level you are on pmc..! if people ask for it, sure, thats proper constructive criticism- but rating peoples skins without that being requested and offering more harsh words than positive words is just plain rude
    idk, a lot of more general pmc style skinners seem inclined to do this towards fantasy/historical roleplay skinners who often use a completely different style than the broader website, and some advice isnt really applicable!
    and just in general, ask before you give advice! but say as much if not more in kind words, bc critique involves pointing out positive aspects too ^_^

    ofc anyone can say anything in a public forum, its literally just a recommendation on how to be nicer to artists thats all :) obv i cant control ppls words but its just something to consider

    also people do this outside of pmc to any kind of artist or person who makes stuff, in any kind of social setting. its even a basic skill to recognize more broadly when comforting an emotional person, to not leap for solutions first, bc ppl often just want support - its a good habit to generally ask beforehand if youre unsure the other persons comfy w it

    Devil's advocate here, but you're posting your creations on an online forum. By publicly posting - others can, and will, say what they think about whatever you're putting out there. You may not always get the intended response you're looking for and that just comes with the territory. This isn't a negative post, just advice you should keep in mind as you post anything online.

    That being said, there's a lot of individuals on here that act very entitled because they get a lot of likes. You have no obligation to follow their "advice" ignore and move on

    literally. It’s just a shitty move imo to rate peoples skins and offer unwanted critique: it’s why one of my biggest rules when I run skinning discords is to not offer critiques if someone didn’t ask for them. Also, skins aren’t high art and we’re not in art school doing this for a living, most of us are students or have jobs. Skinning and roleplay offer an escape.

    ya im motivated to post this after seeing a few really mean spirited comments, but ppl criticizing my stuff and other ppls without asking if we even wanted advice has been a running theme. obvs i cant control everyones words, but its just something to consider before you leap in to point out flaws in a hobby thats usually just for fun
