Hey folks!

Thought I'd get a roundup of some of the small updates and such that have been happening or are happening soon!. Nothing major, so be sure to go read the past Blog Post if you haven't yet for a larger-scope overview.

I've set up a number of serversigns that simulate the mechanics of perusing the menu and ordering select items from the Peaceful End Inn. Some of you may remember this functionality from the Saloon down at Devil's Junction. This functionality may be coming soon to other establishments near you!


3. An Excellent Question

Blakhoel had this great lore question on Discord:
"Obviously Myr has electricity for the telegraph, but are there other common uses of it? Like, is there electric lighting? Perhaps crude elctric motors, or primitive electrolysis equipment for alchemy? ...Do we have the electric chair?"
Our response (which I have expanded upon here):
Excellent question!
So - Electricity is in an interesting place, and that's due to the availability of magical technology. Nonmagical battery and generator technology has barely been scratched, because it is relatively easy to create a mana gem which is enchanted to create a voltage difference by expending stored mana. This mana-gem technology is what currently powers Telegraphs, which do not require huge amounts of power. Most expensive Lighting, as referenced in the Verdisio Lore thread, is predominantly also partially enchanted in nature when it is not gas-powered - in short, "Glowstone" is a magically active material, which acts as the core for many Verdisian-made lamps. Overall, development of more powerful mundane electrical technology has been stunted, compared to the real world, because that development and research is seen as unnecessary. Basically, Verdisian (and other) scientists and engineers don't know what they're missing!

Electrolysis is an excellent idea - I don't think there's presently active RP precedent for it being present on the server, but I wouldn't make a ruling one way or the other before examining things that /do/ exist on the server, such as complex materials or the synthesis of metals. It's certainly possible that it exists in some form, likely magical.

Definitely not the electric chair. Hanging, decapitation, or poison are fine.
