Wow, first place - I didn't expect that at all, lol. Thanks MGB for the awesome competition and congrats to all the other contestants, particularly jduartemiller and Paddy for getting 2nd and 3rd. I'm planning to put my story in a blog and I'm hoping that most of you guys will do the same because I'm interested to read the rest of you guys' writings as well.

Awesome! Will we be able to read the full stories - like, will you post the winner's entries in a blog or something?

Not to be rude or anything, but this is starting to border on the ridiculous. If one of the judges isn't doing their job, please find another one who is more suited to the task, or something. We know that you have other commitments and are busy a lot of the time, but we've been waiting awfully long - longer than it should really take, in my opinion. I for one am very curious about the other contestants and their stories, so I'd like to see them sooner rather than later....

Holy mackerel, how did I even get in the top three??? There were entries far better than mine!! I'm absolutely thrilled, really honored, and at the same time, absolutely flabbergasted. Thanks so much guys!
And a huge congratulations to MysticAbsents and Linard! Your entries are just amazing, and you really deserve first and second place. To pilbass, fantasymaster, and twigbang, you guys did an awesome job and the creativity certainly doesn't go without recognition.
To CreativeNode, thanks so much for the competition. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what else you guys might have in store for us!

Pretty sure MGB said there were 13 entries, and I don't think that's changed...

As I understand, you link the contest in the description of your project, place [Creative-Node Contest] in the title, and link the build here, right?

Sorry it's so last minute, I kind of had to hurry it up and finish it ASAP, hence the single render. It's not great, but hope you likez ish anywayz.

I recently did this one of Elsa from "Frozen". I sketched it in pencil, and then put it through Gimp to come out with this. not my best, but one of my favourites, lol. Anyway, I posted the original graphite drawing in my art blog in case you wanna see it. (Hint, hint )

What drives me nuts? Oh gosh. Underwear with old and stretched elastic. Seriously, there's nothing more uncomfortable, annoying and embarrassing then trying to readjust saggy underwear in public.

Does the first sentence have to be EXACTLY "*character name* watched as the leaf blew down the street."? Or can it be a variant that describes a leaf blowing in the wind, but not in those exact words. A street would not be the ideal setting for the plot that I have in mind.

Also, can it be written in first person?

That's pretty good - really creative and very entertaining. You could make a video of yourself rapping or something. I expect it sounds better in your head than it does in mine.

The terrain is pretty cool - I'm interested to know what your technique is constructing those cliffs is. As for easter eggs, what I usually do in my maps is set aside a particular area - my favorite house, or a hidden cave, or tunnels underneath the map - and then write signs crediting the map. Saying who built it, or who helped, or people that got in the way, or things that happened in the map along the way. Like decisions concerning the construction of the map that you were debating on.

And just to add, if you want to improve the roof shape, try a repetition of 'upsidedown stair-block-rightwayup stair. Gives it a more sloped look and it's a good basic shape.

It's not bad; I like the fact that you scattered the gravel on the path instead of laying it on thickly - it gives it a more natural look. Some things that you could do to improve the building is giving the roof a lip - what I mean by that is extending the dark oak stairs over the edge of the building by one block. This technique gives the structure more depth and improves the overall quality. As for the blacksmith part, it might be worth covering the entire floor of that part with a combination of stone and cracked stone brick. Having only half of the ground dirt and the other half stone looks a little strange and it takes a while to see that it's a blacksmith. Paving the section close to the house sets it off and defines it as the blacksmith more, which might look better. And also the cobwebs - love the fact that you're using it as smoke. It's a very handy trick to use, good job. However, it's very bunched up together and looks very constricted. It might be worth spacing each block apart a bit and make it look more like it's spiraling up into the sky.
Anyway, just my opinion. Nice work. Good luck on your future projects! :thumb: (y)
