It's been a while since I have posted anything to PMC, however I have still been actively building. This is a project that I started years ago, and is currently on the third iteration. Here are some exterior shots:
Hearst Castle is a real-life estate located on the coast of central California, owned by newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst, and designed by architect Julia Morgan. Construction started in 1919, but the estate was never formally completed. The portion that I am building, referred to as "the hilltop," consists of four houses (the largest of which exceeding 60,000 sqft in area), two swimming pools, and many gardens and overlooks to the surrounding hills and ocean.
I have only finished the basic outline of two houses, the facade of the main house, and a small portion of the grounds. I plan to model the entire hilltop complex, including all interiors. Here are some more screenshots:
Assembly room (main house reception room): Library (directly above assembly room): Casa Del Monte sitting room (sitting room in the smallest guest house):
I hope to be able to post more updates in the near future. However the is the largest and most challenging build I have ever done. Please accept my thanks for reading until the end of this post, I realize it's a long one :) . Stay safe everyone.
I scrapped my old marina project. It was feeling too small and unrealistic, so I started work on a new one. This will be a long-term project. I even did some new yachts just for this map!
Here are some yachts projects that were never completed for one reason or another. I'm starting college next week, so I'll probably have very little time for minecraft. I'll probably post my marina project as a final project for the summer.
If anyone wants to complete any of these on their own, then PM me.
I decided to put a little more time into the screenshot with this one. Do you guys think the effort is worth it? Or are normal screenshots (like the one below) preferable? The interior isn't yet finished, so it'll be a little while before it's released.
This is a yacht marina I built to showcase my yacht projects. It also acts as a sandbox for building (hence the junk in the background). This is a WIP project (so I don't know when/if I'll finish this one).
Here's a sneak peek of my latest yacht. The window placement on the bottom deck still needs work, and furniture is needed on interior and exterior decks.
The design of this one is a little more modern than what I usually build, so please tell me if it looks awful.
Does everyone agree that this thing needs some major work?:
This is my most viewed and downloaded yacht project (also my first attempt at any ship in minecraft). I'm thinking of making it my next project to overhaul this and make it look more aesthetically pleasing. Thoughts?
I'll post this with a download when the interior's done. I changed my building style slightly for this one, adding a dedicated ceiling layer for each deck. This allows me to make much more detailed interiors, however the yacht does appear a bit portly on the outside.
I am still accepting suggestions for possible ideas, changes, and improvements (as well as the name). Best wishes to everyone in 2018!
I haven't posted much recently. These are some of the things I've been working on, but haven't finished (and probably won't). The top one was my attempt at a larger scale for houses. The middle one is the facade and front courtyard of Casa Grande at Hearst Castle. The bottom one is a modern desert house. The only thing keeping these projects from being finished is my ineptness at building interiors :P
Thanks for your comment :) I gave up on that build a while ago due to it taking way too much time and being too complex. If I can find the level with the build, I'll upload it. I'll have to look though.
I'm new to this website but I had to make an account to tell you how awesome that Hearst Castle is. I wanted to build something similar and I eventually gave up and looked online to get inspiration from other people and your rendition of the castle is absolutely gorgeous. Keep up the good work and I will be using your image of the castle as a template for my own build! Thank you!
Just a tiny yacht I created that doesn't really deserve its own submission.
Most yachts built in minecraft are over 80 blocks in length, while this one is only 23 blocks. Not small by real-life standards, but it balances out the huge ones.
I would say add chandeliers and a stairwell, but the ceiling seems a bit short. Is there something above that room? If not, you could make that an open area for a second "balcony" area with a large chandelier in the middle.
