Howdy Frontiersmen!
Today we are proud to share some details on Prototype 2 with you guys! Throughout these last few months, we have been extremely busy integrating your feedback and improving the gameplay experience. To help you guys out, we have created a nifty little FAQ. If you have any questions that are not listed, please reply below and we will get back to you ASAP!
What was the reason for Prototype 1?Prototype 1 was intended to test our internal systems, see player patterns, and acquire feedback and suggestions from players.
What did you launch with?We launched Prototype 1 with Elpida, Mining Town, custom combat, custom crafting, custom items (handful of recipes), NPC dialogues, a new website with forums and a wiki, and basic NPC shops.
What did you achieve throughout Prototype 1?The majority of players with access joined the server. We got fabulous feedback (over 100 bug reports). We added over 100 custom items and recipes. Improved worked building and plugins than we released with. We got over 35 unique feature requests and suggestions. Lastly, we added new features throughout the Prototype including stats, new crafting locations, politics, improved dialogues, NPC combat AI, plot ownership, and housing.
Why did Prototype 1 close?Prototype 1 closed because we had acquired enough feedback from the primary release and needed to focus all of our efforts into overall improvement and development.
What is happening currently?Development of new plugins, building (huge polishing on our map), adding new areas, adding content (mobs, items, NPCs), and adding lore and planning events (two already done). Beta testers are still being accepted so don't worry - you aren't too late if you haven't joined us already!
When will Prototype 2 begin? The current plan is to release when key plugins are ready to allow for long term gameplay and when 1.9 is integrated into the main Prototype server. We will release with everything that was in Prototype 1, as well as with new plugins, including extended NPC shops, dungeons, improved combat, reputation, requisition imports, and visible stats. We will also have new content: items and weapons, crafting disciplines, NPC dialogues and NPCs, lots of new mobs, several populated dungeons, export requisitions, player houses and town buildings. We are also constantly working on NPCs - some of the improvements may make it into prototype 2 (town NPC combat, NPC crafting). Prototype 2 will also mark the start of our events. We are already working on events for the full release - these will be story driven and very in depth. We are adding a rewards system that will start in Prototype 2 and run up until full release, which will reward event participation and players who help us test. More information on the rewards program will be available soon!
What can I do now?If you want to still be active in our community, keep checking our forums. Please continue to give us ideas and feedback - now is the best time for that, as we can implement them smoothly with what we are working on currently. We are always working on ways players can contribute to the project without being staff, so keep following us to hear about that (news on this will be coming out soon!). In addition, you can also

We look forward to having you back with us on Elpida and the lands around!
Cheers,
The Minecraft Frontiers Team
