XxxAziexxXshad3w44in the future I can predict there will be a war between the USA and the middle east. Since 11 september, americans are getting more and more angry after theses people as they consider them as terrorists, wich they certainly don't like. with the Iraqui building nuclear weapons, we can see that a war could happen at any time. On an other side, china is likely to become the new superpower in the world, they have the highest population in the world and they have big production means, and, they are getting capitalists. global warming is an important factor to find how our future will look like too. america could get dry and unfertile while contries to the north may get all the food. if nothing is done, stravation will likely spread across the globe. the scientific part is the most unpredictable as we don't know what we will discover next and how long it will take to us to apply it in the real life. and an other thing, in my opinion, as long as we don't stop using oil everywhere, we won't make all the progress we could make, as the oil companies like exxon or whatever surely have a big influence on government and they don't want to loose thier dominant position in our economy.
There is so much I disagree with here that I had to post a reply.
Firstly, I do not know where you are from, but not all Americans hate all people in the Middle East. I for one see the Middle East as rich with culture and would be remiss if I clumped them all together as one view, as you have just done with Americans. Every culture has its extremeists, but that does not make the entire culture bad or evil.
Tensions, in fact, are much less now than they were a few years ago. With the death of Bin Laden, much of America seems rather satisfied. People don't go around talking about the war so much any more and are more focused on the internal turmoil in the Middle East as so many countries fight for their own democracy. On this note and the mention of Iraq holding WMD's, I believe they will be far too busy protecting their own boarders for a while to even think of nuking anyone, what with all the civil war sprouting in the region. They will have to take care to ensure peace in the hearts of their own people to prevent the spread of democracy from reaching their people.
While China has many trade partners, I cannot see them surpassing Great Britain, Russia, or the United States in terms of superpowers. Since China is a communist state, it lacks the diversity of a capitalist economy, therefore limited growth to what the government can provide the people. With this in mind, think about all the other things that the Chinese government must spend money on. Defense, welfare, government salaries... All of these influence the economy, but without a free market, they are severely limited in their ability to grow and receive new economic ideas.
Also, in case you didn't know, the world is actually colder in many places than it was years ago. Global warming is not the fault of the people. This is what our world does naturally and has been doing for generations. All we can do is try and reduce its speed and our fossil fuel consumption to improve life for the people on our planet. It won't swallow us overnight and there isn't much use of freaking out over something we cannot change.
As for America drying up and losing production capacity, I doubt it. The Dust Bowl was a harrowing experience for America and over-use of our soil in the great plains has taught us that we need to let it rest from time to time to prevent infertility. Since it has happened once due to human error and caused such an enormous impact, the American government will likely keep an eye on food production in the Great Plains to prevent it from happening twice. As for the north "getting all the food", northern regions, such as Canada, become much too cold in the winter to support the growth of many foods. They would likely not become a global source because of their harsh winters.
Lastly, oil companies are already making the transition to more eco-friendly fuels. Cheveron is making bio-fuel as we speak. Big oil has always had its entrepreneurs and as soon as the global market makes solar power and bio-fuel more wallet and transportation-friendly, I can guarantee big oil will jump on that train. They are in the busniess of making money, not destroying the world. If we as consumers and auto-makers can bring more electric and bio-fuel cars to the market, oil companies will make more eco-friendly fuel instead of drilling for oil simply because being green makes them more money.
ONI_LINKAnyway, no power? Audaa explain how Long this will last, must get to charging everything.
