Ever since the Overworld has enter its 16th Age, more and more of these peaceful ghasts have popped up. Some believe they are indeed baby ghasts, rising out from the sublava ghast nests. Some believe them to be a different, mutated breed of ghast altogether.

These ghasts cannot fly. Instead, they walk across the surface of lava to get around. Such is the reason they are colloquially known throughout the world as Lava Striders, or simply Striders.
