The Black Tunnelweb Spider is a large spider endemic to New Zealand.
Despite their big fangs and scary looks, these fellas a quite shy and fairly harmless.
These spiders will usually do anything but bite, if they feel threatened they will just run away or hide in their webs. If that's not an option they will raise their legs to make themselves look bigger.
Their venom is only used on their prey and is nowhere near potent enough to do anything to humans.
The Black Tunnelweb spider is pretty much the harmless relative of the Australian Funnel-web spider.
