Champagne is another type of dilution, named after a famous horse with the pelt color, although it was not the first to show it. The Champagne gene alters the black hairs to a taupe color and red hair to a gold or apricot shade. They also show a pink to purpleish mottled skin and light eyes, usualy green, razel or amber colored.
The Gold Champagne happens when a horse has a chestnut base hair color with the influence of the champagne dilution, it is common to see lighter manes and tails, like in palominos, but the horse may also be born with an even color all troughout the body.
