Champagne is another type of dilution, named after a famous horse with the pelt color, although it was not the first to show it. The Champagne gene alters the black hairs to a taupe color and red hair to a gold or
apricot shade. They also show a pink to purpleish mottled skin and light eyes, usualy green, razel or amber colored.
Usually ressembling a very light palomino, the gold cream champagne happens when a chestnut base is mixed with both cream and champagne genes. The resulting color may be mistaken for a cremello horse, depending on how light it shows, giving them the name of pseudo cremellos or pseudo double cream.
