When a witch emptied out her dirty cauldron it spilled into a nearby hole with lava. The witch heard the noise and checked and saw obsidian. The witch thought it was a sort of gem she could use in her potions. So she collected it all and then when she realized its useless she just used it to make a pretty rectangular sculpture.
