Amethyst is useless, so why not create a mod that adds armor and tools in amethyst? All craft are based on amethyst ingot.
The mod was entirely created by me, as well as the textures. The mod was done on MCreator (I just add the useless description lol, it takes at least 160 characters for me to publish it)

Update! I added potions with the effect "Amethysted" and some other item

quick question how do you get the Amethyst blocks are they mineable like in the ground or do you find then in chests.

Amethyst blocks are only obtainable with 9 amethyst ingot (the craft is the same as with a diamond block, coal block, iron block, gold block, etc).

I have some ideas for you:
- Instead of 9 ams for 1 ingot, try to make melting a crystal for the ingot. It would explain why it's darker than the crystal
- Consider about adding more functions like brewing(crushed) or even for some weapons like bombs

The idea of melting a crystal is good, nevertheless, I didn’t really understand ur second idea, it may be because I am French and my English vocabulary is quite limited..
Anyway, thx again for your comment and your ideas,
I’ll see what I can do and maybe I’ll do an update to melt crystals (:

Edit : I modified the craft of the amethyst ingot, now it will be obtainable only by melting amethyst shard. Thank you for your advice (;

I meant using it for more things than just for weapons. I mean you could make custom potion recipes(health boost) or for custom weapons like bombs(tnt like)
