Hey! This is my first mod, EVER. Its really simple, it just adds a new recipe; Obsidian.

Things you need:
WinRar or any program that can handle .zip files
Minecraft

If you put:
[ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [L] [ ]
[ ] [W] [ ]
(w is water bucket and l is lavabucket.

You get obsidian! Then its easier to get a nether portal if youre not cheating!

And also... You could make a mod that adds a new block or something? The traditional practice mod is adding a new ore which is better than diamond and a toolset.

Thanks for the reply! I have tried, and made a code, a texture and the class files needed. It didn't work... :( But I don't mod Minecraft that much anymore. I don't make texture packs either that much. I am instead working on a mod for the Source Engine called "Parkour Mod". Message me if you wanna be a tester. I need beta testers. :)

Done many times before for practice, this is no exception. Up vote like I always do. Practice makes you better. Without it, none of the popular mods would have been made.

Despite the usefullness in this mod, I do see a problem here. Obsidian is supposed to be hard to get so its worth the trouble to get it. Making it an easy thing to get takes the fun and danger of getting obsidian. Make it so that it is customisible. (Go into the mod file and switch a certain file to switch it from this block to obsidian.) Instead make it so that if you have the bucket with lava and water, using it in a crafting table, you get Cracked Obsidian. This means it can be broken with an Iron Pick, takes A LOT less time to break, looks SIMILIAR to obsidian, but cannot be used in the making of a nether portal. :)

Ok, Ill do it now. Ill make it 7 so you need to get 2 buckets of lava and 2 of water.
