A small data pack which adds the gigalantern
The lantern prevents mob spawning for 64 blocks radius surrounding the lantern
It is crafted with two diamond blocks and one gold block

Running the command /function gigalantern:uninstallWill remove all gigalanterns from your world, replacing them with regular lanterns

Added a nicer spawn item
Added some protection so renaming the egg will not let you spawn a lantern (for compatibility with other data packs)

Playing in 1.14.4 and there seem to be some problems. Spawn rates seem to be slightly reduced within 64 blocks, but not stopped entirely by any means. Do walls block the effect of the gigalanterns or does having more than one within a certain radius of another cause one to override another?



I've noticed this the most upon login, where my under construction house has mobs inside, as well as when I leave the area and return.

After some testing in a creative flat world, it seems as though mobs are instantly teleported most of the time, but there are instances where if a mob spawns just after one was sent away(possibly during the same game tick), it remains. This begins to happen more frequently when you introduce more than one Gigalantern at the same time.

i noticed i cant place the lantern everywhere, can i only place it where mobs can spawn? (if so that's a cool mechanic)

The lantern must be place on a block, however that is the only requirement for placing it

Hello,

I have Minecraft 1.14.2. It doesn't work. Nothing happens.

I've uncompressed archive to test. : idem.

Is there something more to do with craft ?

You must craft the gigalantern, The crafting recipe is the second image in the gallery.
This was built in 1.14.2, unzipping is not required.

Please run /datapacks listand check to see if "file/gigalantern" appears in the list
