Jagdtiger

"Jagdtiger" (German Jagdtiger), full official name Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B - German self-propelled artillery unit (SPG) of the Second World War. According to the German departmental system of designations of military equipment, it belongs to the type of anti-tank "Panzerjäger" (German panzer - tank, German jäger - hunter), bore the index Sd.Kfz.186. It was developed in 1942-1944 on the chassis of the heavy tank "Tiger II". "Jagdtiger" was mass-produced from 1944 to 1945, however, due to interruptions in the supply of materials and the destruction of factories by aerial bombardment, only 81 SPGs of this type out of 150 ordered were delivered to the customer. Due to the small number of vehicles produced, their unreliability and the constant problem of a lack of fuel for them, the combat use of the Jagdtigers was limited and did not affect the course of the war, although those vehicles that did enter combat demonstrated the ability to confidently destroy any of the armored vehicles of the anti-Hitler coalition countries participating in the war, while remaining virtually invulnerable to their fire in the frontal projection. Nevertheless, in the end, many of these few self-propelled guns were simply abandoned by their crews after running out of ammunition, fuel, after a breakdown, or as a result of direct enemy attacks from the air.
