Mad Scientist
A Datapack by Kwiz
1.18 - Currently working but with one missing mob - See Notes below -
This Datapack adds Mad Scientist Laboratories to your world!
These top secret labs contain Special Mobs, Loot Crates, Gateways and even more secrets!
Mad Scientists build their hidden lairs underground in desolate biomes like deserts and swamps. Find secret labs underground in swamps and deserts around level 45.
This datapack provides a fun incentive to explore underground but above diamond level, and provides players with more opportunities to get loot chests, special mobs like pandas parrots and killer bunnies, and special blocks like shulker boxes, end rods, bamboo and even gateways!
To install, simply drop the MadScientist datapack .zip file in the datapacks folder of your game save or server. You may need to run the /reload command in your world before it is active. No need to unzip the datapack.
Laboratories currently have a 1/128 chance of spawning in a swamp/desert chunk when the chunk is generated. If you'd like to test, the easiest way to find Mad Scientist Lairs is to fly around just below a desert or swamp while in spectator mode. These labs are in various states of decay, some blocks are missing and obstructed as they have been abandoned.
I would like to update in the future with addition of other rare/unobtainable mobs and or loot.
Notes:
Killer bunnies can breed with normal rabbits, and the offspring are 50/50 chance of being killer... if you manage to breed them without dying. If you don't want players to be able to breed a herd of cuddly death machines, don't install this datapack.
These labs are in place of some of the fossils that generate in minecraft which allows them to generate with the world. While this means there are a few less of these, I am actually hoping this pack leads to the discovery of MORE fossils by players, because most players have never seen one fossil but this provides incentive to explore underground in the same area that fossils will spawn.
The golden ratio research facility contains a main gateway to 0,0 and a smaller, much more powerful gateway that may teleport you an extreme distance (and to your death you if you have a small world border). It also contains killer toast. If you find the scientists notes in this lab, they may also prove useful in your building plans.
1.18 Update: last tested in 29w31a, Mad Scientist labs are spawning below desert and swamp biomes, but may be all the way down to bottom of world. Currently the killer bunny is not spawning in - but waiting for full release to make changes. Right now you will get the special bunny Toast instead in the Golden Ratio Research Facility. Other rare mobs and loot chests work fine.
Next update will include labs with zombie horses and labs with giants, and a sealab or two - coming very soon!
(UPDATE my planned addition to this pack didn't happen as I ran into an unexpected issue using giants and zombie horses in the way I had planned due to limitations to structure blocks and entity riding at this time. But I would still like to add at least the zombie horse into the lab so players can get it and have their own If they find one that survived)
There is a rare chance to come back through from the nether inside an underground lab, as one of them has a portal, however the odds of this portal generating totally intact (no missing blocks) is slim, I've only found one intact one so far
Examples of a lab spawning in a normal world:
Seed: -2435369719665103785
X:-1203 Y:45 Z:-2044 and X: -1183 Y:46 Z:-2055
To see these spawn, you need to create the world with this seed
and then install the datapack first before traveling to these coords.

However, only a few foxes with enchanted diamond sword/axe should be able to take care of all the killer bunnies with ease though (foxes are too agile for them), especially in an enclosed area like your lab :/
But I wonder how will you be able to make the giants work porperly though?
