Summary

This is a mod in the vein of Vanilla+, adding new features and extensions of the original game in a manner I believe to be consistent with Minecraft's own development philosophy.

Key Features

Dashing

You have the ability to dash. Enchantments can make you go further or higher, akin to a leap. A GUI will let you know when you can dash. The frequency with which you can dash is dependent on your armor.

Hearth

You can hearth to your bed anytime, so long as the ability is not on cooldown. This ability works cross-dimensions, and can be a real lifesaver.

Weapon Variety

I've added a selection of weapons that have different damage, attack speed, and even entity reach! You can craft any one line of weapons you like, or have multiple on you for different situations.

Portal Stones

Ever wanted to have a way to travel between bases? Now you can! With Portal Blocks and Portal Stones, you can travel to locations instantly. If you want to let your friend into your super secret base, a custom crafting recipe will let you copy an Attuned Portal Stone onto a regular Portal Stone.

Quests

Ever wanted to get rewarded for all your hard work? Introducing the Quest Block and Quests! Once completed, Quest items can be used to grant you generous rewards!

Party System

Play with your friends even more often! Featuring a fully realized Party System, play with your friends and join them anywhere in the world! See their current status in a small compact GUI. Players in the same party are also assigned to a team and have Friendly Fire turned off!

FAQ

Is this mod able to be added to an existing world?

Yes, you can add this to an existing world. I would recommend you start a new world, but nothing would break drastically by adding it to an existing one. There is resource generation (and structures eventually), but up to this point it does not require you create a new world with the mod.

Do you have recommended game rules and/or settings for this mod?

No, I think the mod is balanced around any set of rules. We personally play with keepInventory on and difficulty set to hard, but otherwise anything is fine. The Hearth and Dash mechanics really make both traversal quicker and easier, and give you more options to bail out of tough situations.

Closed Source

This project is presently Closed Source, but after I have gotten it to a place where I am happy with it, and I believe the codebase and feature are in a good place to build upon, I'd Open Source it.

Questions on Implementation

If you're a fellow mod maker and have some questions about my implementation for certain mechanics, please feel free to drop a question in the Q&A Discussion.

Will you publish some of the interfaces so others can extend the features in this modification?

At some point yes, but I'm not in a place where I am ready to start supporting an API or package for others to consume. The mod is so early in its development that anything I build now may get refactored a dozen times, and it would be more of a hassle to support. Once we're open sourced, I would say that would be a time I'd expect to see more of the api exposed for consumption (or a package for dependencies.)

Origin

I built this mod originally for a group of friends I played with. We started out just wanting a dash ability, but then we expanded further and further.
I began to make new blocks, more abilities, and lots of artwork (that I am fairly proud of for a developer.)
Soon, we had enough cool features that my friends encouraged me to release it publicly. I am forever grateful for their support.

0.1.1 Released! : by Toukun 03/17/2024 12:19:24 pmMar 17th

Summary
- Consolidated a number of networking packets into a generic packet, which reduces Mod size and further optimizes efficiency.
- This technically should be a Minor version bump, but you'd want to match server/client versions anyway. If anybody feels strongly about it I don't mind being more strict with my versioning.
