France, not to be left out of developing their own jet aircraft, introduced the Dassault M.D.450 Ouragan in 1952, replacing their British De Havilland Vampires. It would be the first of many French fighter aircraft to achieve great success in the years to come.
With production numbers reaching no fewer than 567, the Ouragan would see service with France, India and El Salvador, but gained notability in the hands of Israeli pilots, who used the aircraft extensively in the regional conflicts of the Suez Crisis where it shined against the Egyptian MiG-15s.
In the end, the Ouragan would be an impressive aircraft that lived up far beyond the creators initial expectations.
