I had the impulse to do a total redesign of Penn15.
The building replaces the Hotel Pennsylvania building, which many see as historical and important to preserve. This is why I designed it to be bowing to Hudson Yards, which is New York's latest symbol of neoliberal capitalism and gentrification. One of the controversies of Penn15 is that it would block views of the Empire State Building from the Jersey side. Now, Hudson Yards takes care of a lot of that now, but I still wanted to rub it in that the days of old New York are over. The building is now taller than the Empire State Building when comparing their spires, though when comparing roof height Penn15 is roughly 150ft below.

Like Rainier Blocks, the building also groups offices into chunks, but this time, with terraces. Similar to Rainier Bocks, the building is meant to intimidate pedestrians walking around it. Similar to Rainier Blocks, I have also added industrial/high-tech elements to the building like elevators on the exterior, and exposed steel spiral fire escapes. The elevators on the outside are stacked, people get on them from two floors simultaneously, and they stop at each terrace, which are also two floors. These elevators are meant to get people from office to office quickly, while smaller elevators within each office chunk take them to the specific floor they want. This design saves on floor space, and is an evolved version of what was first seen in Minoru Yamasaki's World Trade Centers in New York City.
