The Nautica Corporation first started as a local manufacturing company in Astoria City in 1922. The company first manufactured tractors, ships, early non-military aircraft, and general appliances that gave the people of Astoria happiness and enjoyment amidst the stressful, and depressing political turmoil.

Imperial powers created bitter relations with other empires. Eventually battles narrowed the many powers to only two. One being the "Royal Empire" which had "Astoria City" as it's capital, and the other being the "Helmholtz Republic" which had a city called "Angel City" as it's capital. The Helmholtz Republic began to invest most of it's economy and resources on military, and genetic alteration. Which gave them an edge in military power, and chemical weaponry however the nation became desperate in regaining the riches foolishly spent. It was only a matter of time that the Helmholtz Republic declared war on the Royal Empire. This war would be dubbed the "Vomit War of 1924".

The "Vomit War", was a horrific war that introduced new diseases, and mutations. The company, by order of the Royal King, was tasked to build the first domestically engineered tanks. When the Royal Empire first revealed these steel beasts at the "Hero March of 1925" the public felt a great deal of patriotism, and courage. The many families whose sons, and fathers who served upon these landships felt that the misfortune of their deaths were impossible, the tanks became a symbol of the Royal Army and encouraged many to join the battle against the Helmholtz Republic. When the Royal forces first laid eyes on the horrors of the battlefield, they were met with only the former soldiers of the Republic mangled, and conjoined with other soldiers, almost as if they had become one organism. Republic tanks had the crew's flesh merged, and melded with the tank's hull and had become a living organism. After investigation of the battlefield, it was discovered that such mutations came from a leak from a bacterial weapon created by the Republic. What kept the Royal Army mostly immune from the mutations, were the tanks. The tanks allowed the soldiers to track the land without being in contact with the infested soil and mud. After the Royal Army pressed into the capital of the Helmholtz Republic, realized it was too late. The entire territory of the Republic was home to the mutated and dying. With the citizen population covered in boils, and cysts or conjoined into a mindless, feral, monstrosity. Those still alive would be vomiting their own digested organs. The Helmholtz Republic was felled by it's own hideous creation, however arose a much more dangerous threat for millenniums to come.

Sole survivors of that war claim that they owe their lives to the vehicle. Soldiers had a different definition of the normal understanding of "reliability" as it was defined by how easy it was to fix, and maintain rather than it's ruggedness. Most importantly... Sheltering them from the infected environment.

Ever since that war, the Nautica Corporation was never able to revert back to manufacturing joyous technologies, but instead devoted it's resources to combat vehicles to protect the rest of humanity.
