This is my envisioning of the fortress Angband from the Silmarillion. Since there are no official visual representations, this presented both a challenge and great opportunity. It was difficult to carefully read and replicate the minimal descriptions in the book, but it allowed me a bit of creativity. The four spires, the barren wasteland, the caverns, and the volcano in the background are some of the only tangible descriptions we get in the book, so I attempted to model this after other architecture of Middle-Earth. This particular one is roughly modeled after Barad-dûr and Cirith Ungol after its corruption.

The mountain range I imagine in the background has given me the most trouble. Because of the height limit, it's very difficult create mountains that rival the size of the tower itself, although I'll continue attempting to get as close as possible. Because they will be some distance away, it shouldn't be too hard to force their intimidation through exaggerated perspective, but I won't be sure until I try.


I also have to complete the caverns beneath the fortress and detail within the fortress rooms.

Edit 1:
Worked on the mountain range and got the first layer of mountains done. I still need to build slightly taller ones behind the current range and continue working on the caverns beneath Angband.

Wow this really deserves more credit. Really nicely done. You seem to have much creativity. Could you maybe do an Morgoth skin. By the way nice to find a tolkien fan :)

Thanks! I have absolutely no experience making skins, sorry. It would be very cool to have a well-done Morgoth skin though!
