Архангельский собор — православный храм, расположенный на Соборной площади Московского Кремля. Усыпальница русских монархов.

Был построен в 1508 году по проекту архитектора Алевиза Нового. Во внутренних помещениях покоятся останки представителей княжеского рода, среди которых цари Михаил Фёдорович и Алексей Михайлович, оба брата Петра I, князь Михаил Черниговский.

Главный вход собора находится в широком углублении. Он богато украшен и проработан резьбой. Роспись собора уникальна тем, что в нижнем ярусе стен содержит надгробные условные портреты великих московских и удельных князей, расположенные над захоронениями. Князья в почтении повернулись к алтарю храма, их руки подняты в молитвенном жесте, над головами — сияющие нимбы.

В 1606 году в собор перенесли прах царевича Димитрия, который погиб при загадочных обстоятельствах, а в 1632 году над его гробницей была поставлена резная белокаменная сень.


The Archangel Cathedral is an Orthodox church located on Cathedral Square in the Moscow Kremlin. It is the burial place of Russian monarchs.

It was built in 1508 according to the design of the architect Aleviz Novy. The remains of representatives of the princely family are buried in the interior, including the tsars Mikhail Fedorovich and Alexei Mikhailovich, brothers of Peter I, and Prince Mikhail of Chernigov.

The main entrance to the cathedral is located in a wide niche. It is richly decorated and decorated with carvings. The painting of the cathedral is unique in that the lower tier of the walls contains conventional tomb portraits of the great Moscow and appanage princes, located above the burials. The princes respectfully turn to the altar of the temple, their hands are raised in a prayerful gesture, halos shine above their heads.

In 1606, the ashes of Tsarevich Dmitry, who died under mysterious circumstances, were transferred to the cathedral, and in 1632, a carved white stone canopy was erected over his grave.
