Beneath the Crust Minecraft Map
I walked into the snow capped hills with a mild sense of dread. If the stories of the villagers were to be believed, this area was the cause of numerous evils that befell them, from sour milk and failed crops to neighbours vanishing in the dead of night, never to be heard of again.

I came upon a tunnel from which a dry hot wind blew, laced with a foul hint of sulfur.

Deeper I went until even the constant drip of water stopped, and the heat became an oppressive blanket that caused me to wish for the snow I had left far above.

Here, at the lowest point of my descent, I set aside my equipment, took up my pick axe, and struck the dull grey stone with a resounding clang that echoed through the darkness. I moved quickly in case the noise would summon creatures that had more than curiosity on their mind. And then, I beheld the crumbling flesh-coloured rock that I had only seen once before in my travels. My fear rose as I recalled that fateful time of witch craft and wizardry that had taken me from a secluded tower in the hills to a hellish land of fire and brimstone. I had only escaped through chance at the cost of my prey, who no doubt still lurks and thrives in that wild alternate dimension. With an effort of will I returned to the task at hand.

Down through the depth of the putrid soil I went, casting a small path of planks behind me to ensure my retreat.

And then I was through into a winding tunnel, lit in part by flames that burned in the heat and dust.

I followed the path of tunnel until unexpectedly it opened on a seething lake of molten rock, fed by vast torrents from far above.

As I turned I was greeted by an unexpected, but welcome, sight. Chickens!

Cautiously I explored this deep realm further. I came upon ancient structures built not by human hand, and surely evidence of a malevolent entity in this festering realm.

At last I felt a cool breeze on my face, which I followed through a snaking labyrinth that at it's end revealed the welcome sight of the Sun. Dusting myself off I made my way back to the Village and shared with them the truth of their situation. They were fools trapped by fate, I said, if they chose to stay living in the shadow of this abomination.
