You need to walk onto the pressure plate, and then it teleports you into a bigger house. It is just some Command Blocks that teleport you to a different location.

Its not possible in vanilla to make a real life 'TARDIS'.

While a TARDIS is not what this build is, it is incorrect to call the general idea a 'TARDIS'. It is not just TARDISes that are bigger on the inside. For example, in The Runaway Bride (the 2006 Christmas special, between seasons 2 and 3), the Doctor states that at least one of the pockets on his jacket is bigger on the inside. And in Doomsday (S2E13), the Genesis Ark is bigger on the inside. Neither of those are TARDISes. And these examples are only with the Tenth Doctor. There are more out there. Also, TARDISes can time-travel and fly. They can also disguise as their surroundings (that is, unless you have a broken Chameleon Circuit).

Basically, not everything bigger on the inside is a TARDIS. There's more to it than that.
