this aircraft shown looks to be a 747-8i (mostly used by lufthansa now)
the cause for MH370 is still not determined as of yet. some extra information about that particular flight and aircraft:
the aircraft (a boeing 777-2H6ER, with the "ER" meaning extended range) had a registration of 9M-MRO (NINERMIKE-MIKEROMEOOSCAR) and the flight itself was operated as ICAO MAS370, direct service from kuala lumpur intl' in malaysia, headed to beijing capital intl', china. there were 239 total souls on board (yes, in aviation, any occupants are referred to as "souls"), that being 227 passengers and 12 flight crew members. it is presumed that none on board survived whatever happened.
this makes it the deadliest accident of the 777, as well as the deadliest in malaysia airlines' history until it was surpassed by MH17.
