This is my build, based on the design provided by Richlarrousse, of HMHS / His Majesty's Hospital Ship Britannic, youngest sister ship of the RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic.

Britannic was the third and final ship in the Olympic-class trio of transatlantic liners built by Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast for the White Star Line following the RMS Olympic and the infamous RMS Titanic, and was intended to be the pinnacle of the trio in terms of size, luxury, speed, engineering and safety. Her design had been significantly modified during construction following the sinking of her older, more famous sister ship Titanic in 1912, and was given a double hull, higher watertight bulkheads and large gantry davits to accommodate far more lifeboats. She was launched in February 1914 just before World War One broke out and after being laid up in Belfast for months into the war was later requisitioned by the British Government to be used as a hospital ship in order to transport thousands of wounded soldiers from the Mediterranean back to Britain. The ship's enormous size and speed meant that she was a very appropriate choice for this role, and she was fitted with over 3,300 beds in order to accommodate the growing number of casualties and could travel at high speeds of 24 knots. All of her luxury fittings were removed and all public areas were converted into operating rooms and wards to house the wounded. The newly-designated HMHS Britannic set off for her first voyage on 23 December 1915.

After five successful voyages to the Mediterranean and back, her sixth voyage would prove to be her last. On the morning of 21 November 1916 at 08:12am while en route to pick up more wounded soldiers from Greece she was shaken by a large explosion in the Kea Channel. The cause, whether a mine or a torpedo, was initially unclear. However, it was later determined to be caused by a mine, laid by German submarine U-73 a few weeks prior. Captain Charles Bartlett then decided the best course of action was to beach the ship on the nearby island of Kea and ordered all her boilers lit, however this only caused the ship to sink even faster. It was also discovered that many of the watertight doors had failed to close after being jammed in the open position by the explosion, and in addition to this the nurses had previously opened the ship's portholes to ventilate the wards, allowing more water to pour in and sealing Britannic's fate. After only 55 minutes the ship completely sank at 09:07am, although remarkably only 30 lives were lost, with 1,036 of the 1,066 on board surviving the disaster. These 30 deaths were caused by two lifeboats full of panicked crew members that were launched early without the captain's permission being sucked into the still-spinning propellers as the ship was still moving in an attempt to reach the island of Kea, smashing the boats and their occupants to pieces. Britannic was the largest ship lost in World War One.

As she was lost only 11 months after being conscripted into military service, Britannic sadly never served her intended purpose as a transatlantic liner - RMS Britannic. Following the loss of both Britannic in 1916 and her more famous sister ship Titanic in 1912, Olympic would be the only remaining ship of the class afloat and the only one of the three to enjoy a long and successful career before being scrapped in 1935.
