What is Thoren City?:
Thoren City is a 8 year old Minecraft city-state. Through the years, every aspect of the city has been expanded and updated, with special consideration taken to preserve important historical and cultural sites.

The Story:
Many generations ago, a man from a far-away settlement traveled to the the desert and explored its sprawling sands. This individual later came across a bustling city. It was named "Thoren", after a once prominent family in the city. The city during this time was ruled by a ruthless king, named Bartholomew I. Though Bartholomew was a tyrant, the city grew and was protected by the king's great reforms and the stability his sons inherited. The growing city, with towering sandstone walls, was later split into two distinct districts during the reign of Bartholomew III. However, when King Bartholomew III met the man from far away after he had become known in the city for some time, he took him in as an advisor and a trusted friend of the royal court.
During the long-rule of Bartholomew IV, the Union States had occupied the city and constructed permanent military instillations following the unpopular deposing of the Bartholomew IV. This gained the Union widespread criticism at home. Due to widespread domestic and political criticism of the Union's occupation of Thoren, the Union States announced their plan to abruptly withdrawal from the city in 2018. Sensing an impending power vacuum, the Neonian government proposed a partnership with rich mining factions that now occupied deserted crown land. Once a larger military presence in the city was established, the Neonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs signaled their decision to have their close ally in the city, the Bouchard family, succeed the Bartholomew IV. Bartholomew IV was subsequently deposed and has not been seen since.
However, it's no secret that the Neonian government, while less interested in direct rule, has maintained control over bureaucratic services and the army - therefore directly controlling many important functions of Thoren's government. Recent visits by senior Neonian officials confirms this local suspicion. While the Neonian government appointed a new king, they did also support a royal plan to implement a limited parliament.
Under the rule of Salaman Bouchard I, the city of Thoren has nearly doubled in size and population, its industrial output has doubled with significant advancements in mining, and has received its first foreign consulate of Diver City.

Project Zearth is a historic MC map you can find in the link. Had the pleasure of helping in the last version and highly recommend giving the map a try. Neon, on the other hand, is one state inside of Zearth. In this map version, Neon has essentially colonized the city state, taking control of much of the city's economic and political resources.
Oh. and looking at the project Zearth website, this is one of the partner's, lol.
