The D.S Gisela is 52 meter long paddlesteamer that moves on the Austrian Traunsee. It was bulit in 1871 and named after the first daughter of the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I. It was originaly used to transport people over the Traunsee. The Gisela was later
decommissioned at the begining of the 80s. At the begining of the 70s her sistership Elisabeth was scraped.
Surprisingly she was saved by a group of people who wanted to save her for the future. Later in the 90s she got upgraded from coal to oil, but the engine stayed original.
Today she rides on the Traunsee every sunday and is in a very good condition.
