Hello everyone!
I'm back with a big build this time - The Danton-class semi-dreadnought battleships of France! I don't build battleships too often because of their size and complexity; it takes ages to build them and get them right, and it's hard work, but I do enjoy it. I really like this class of battleships, so I thought I'd give it a go, and I'm delighted with how it turned out. Another complexity of building this class of ship was that there wasn't a good 3D model I could use. World of Warships doesn't have this ship, instead having a butchered version called "Turenne" that swaps out some of the 240mm guns for 305mm, although certain hull details and shapes are very similar, so I had to use other resources to help me, which added to the challenge.
Anyway, I'm delighted with how it turned out, and I hope you all will like it too :)
Statistics are as follows:
Length - 147 Blocks
Beam - 27 Blocks
Draught - 8 Blocks
Again, these figures don't include extremities.
Primary Armament: 4 x 305mm/45 Model 1906 Guns [2 x 2], 12 x 240mm/50 Model 1902-1906 Guns [6 x 2]
Secondary Armament: 16 x 75mm/62.5 Model 1908 Guns [16 x 1], 8 x 47mm/40 Hotchkiss 3pdr QF Model 1902 Mark I Guns [8 x 1]
Torpedo Armament: 2 x 450mm Modele 1909R Torpedoes [2 x 1, Beam]
So there you have it! I hope you enjoy the pictures. I will endeavour to build more "exciting" ships soon, not just destroyers, etc., but just know that it takes a lot of time, and I have a lot of other things on my plate.
See you again soon,
MCMG
