Get the DIAMOND, go in water, put the diamond in crafting table,do not close crafting table, go through portal and
you will see two diamonds get the one, go to inventory and MAKE SOME DIAMONDS...... Good luck ...

Indeed. Had lots of trouble because of this bug on my server, but I wrote a plugin to solve it...

Sadly it doesn't work for SP...
