With this project we are aiming to create a completely new type of gamemode for Minecraft. Similar in style to simple RPGs such as Paper Mario, Dissident Powers will aim to create a long-lasting and replayable experience complete with quests, leveling, two rivaling factions (PvP), and an intricate yet optional storyline that will keep the player constantly engaged. We will be doing away with many of Minecraft's core mechanics such as building and mining and will be replacing them with brand new mechanics, some of which are mana, a status bar, and alchemy. The best part about this project? It will be completely done in Minecraft without mods. All the player will have to do is connect and install the texture pack. There will be no shuffling around looking for the latest mod updates.
As with all projects of this caliber, we will be needing assistance, particularly in terrain designing. Because the amount of areas we will need done are vast and must be detailed in accordance with the lore, we suggest that all applying team members be open to criticism, and are actively willing to learn the lore of the game in order to minimize time lost in reconstruction. You will be able to express your own creativity, however, and will have quite a bit of say in how you develop an area of the game.
Goals:
- An interactive gameplay experience where you can team up with friendly players and go head to head against the opposing faction.
- 4 large, quest-filled environments where the two opposing factions will compete daily for control over them.
- ~35 quests before the game's launch complete with their own individual, smaller environments to explore.
- ~Over 24 hours of gameplay in just the main quests.
-~32 different tech trees, most of them with several different subskills that allow you to personally customize your character.
- ~An expandable environment so expansions can be made in the future.
- A playable version of the game by December 2013.
- This project is led by Parrothead and FrostyPirate. We are both veterans of game design and have worked on other previous projects, including Warcraft III maps and DnD projects.
- Applicants must show a portfolio and be 15 years of age or older.
