[Below is a repeat of what I wrote on the first page.]

These maps have a bit of a story behind them, but I'll try to keep it brief.

Many years ago, back when I was a kid, my uncle got a private Minecraft server for me and my cousins. While this started out as a simple Survival server, it quickly developed into a flourishing Creative map, and in time we built a massive city. One component of this city was a district entirely dedicated to mini-games. We had a coliseum, a tower defense game, a spleef arena, so on and so forth and whathaveyou. One particular map in this district was an underground challenge course, which I had made. Essentially, it consisted of room after room of different challenges, which ranged anywhere from parkour to Inception-style puzzles. I christened the game "Duke's Disaster Pit," after my username at the time, Dukeman6. As I was a kid at the time, the game was not especially great, and most of the challenges were either super easy or hard to the point of unfair. But nevertheless, I was proud of it, and even long after the server went offline I continued to look back upon it with fondness. So much so, in fact, that in college I decided to revisit the idea for old time's sake, and made a complete remake of "Duke's Disaster Pit." Each of the challenges were revamped versions of the original ones, save for the last room, where I tacked on a wholly new one. This map is the first one you will find in the folder below.

I ended up having so much fun making that map, that I decided to make a sequel featuring entirely fresh challenges of an even larger scale. The result was fittingly named "Duke's Disaster Pit 2." While a marked improvement over the original, I still wasn't quite satisfied, and went on to make a third one—rounding off the trilogy, so I thought at the time. However, this map took well over a year to finish, as school work intervened and I lost motivation. But finally, I got it done, the biggest and boldest "Duke's Disaster Pit" of them all. But yet, even after it took me so long to complete the third one, somehow my brain got the idea that I needed to make a fourth one, one even bigger and even bolder. This one would not just feature challenges, but also an adventure map element to it (one partially inspired by the old video game System Shock). For the same reasons as before, this one took around the same amount of time to make as the third one, and at times it really strained by coding capabilities. But in the end, I got it done. And somehow also graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

Are these maps any good? Compared to the vast majority of the other maps out there, lord no. They are very amateurish at times, and are primitive and rough around the edges by comparison. I'm no skilled mapmaker or storyteller. But that's not what they were supposed to be. I wasn't trying to make the next great adventure map. These are a labor of love spanning four years, an experiment in what my amateur self could do with the game's mechanics. It was a little hobby, a side project. Regardless of whether anyone actually plays them, I'm proud of them. Heck, the only reason I'm uploading them here is to save them for posterity in case my computer decides to get funky and somehow delete them.

In any case, if you do end up playing them, I hope you get something out of them. You probably won't have as much fun playing them as I had making them, but as long as there is any fun to be had at all, that's mission accomplished.

Due to the folder containing all four maps being too large of a file size to post, I decided to break up the maps into two pages. The fourth map is on this page, and I'll provide a link to the page with the first three maps below.
